The Botswana Literature Awards is pleased to announce that our Founder, Dr. Lame Pusetso, will be featured on the BTV Breakfast Show on Monday, 28 September 2026 at 06:40HRS.

“OUR STORIES, OUR VOICES – CELEBRATING BOTSWANA LITERATURE AT 60”

As Botswana celebrates 60 years of Independence, this conversation provides an important opportunity to reflect on our literary journey, the evolution of Botswana literature, our oral storytelling traditions, Setswana literature, contemporary writing, and the voices that continue to document our culture, identity and experiences.

The discussion will also explore the realities facing Batswana writers and the local publishing industry, the importance of recognising and celebrating our authors, and how we can encourage the next generation to read, write and tell their own stories.

At the Botswana Literature Awards, we believe that celebrating a nation must also mean celebrating its stories and the people who write them.

We invite writers, readers, publishers, educators and all lovers of Botswana literature to tune in.

BOTSWANA LITERATURE AWARDS – OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

To our esteemed authors, publishers, poets, literary practitioners, partners, sponsors, and the reading public,

The Botswana Literature Awards Committee wishes to formally announce that the Botswana Literature Awards will not be taking place in 2026 and have been officially postponed to 2027.

This decision follows the successful securing of a new sponsorship partnership that will enable us to significantly strengthen and expand the awards platform. As we embark on this new chapter, additional time is required to put in place all necessary preparations, structures, partnerships, and opportunities that will ensure a world-class awards experience for Botswana’s literary community.

While we understand that many writers and stakeholders were looking forward to the 2026 awards season, we firmly believe that this strategic decision will result in a more impactful, prestigious, and rewarding event in 2027.

We encourage all authors, poets, publishers, storytellers, academics, and literary creatives to continue writing, publishing, and producing exceptional work. Use this time to grow your portfolio, refine your craft, and prepare your best submissions.

The Botswana Literature Awards 2027 promises to bring exciting developments, enhanced categories, stronger partnerships, greater visibility for writers, and amazing prizes that will further celebrate literary excellence in Botswana.

We invite the literary community to remain engaged and be on the lookout for upcoming announcements, opportunities, special initiatives, and exciting developments as we prepare for the return of the Botswana Literature Awards in 2027.
