BOTSWANA LITERATURE AWARDS – OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
To our esteemed authors, publishers, poets, literary practitioners, partners, sponsors, and the reading public,
The Botswana Literature Awards Committee wishes to formally announce that the Botswana Literature Awards will not be taking place in 2026 and have been officially postponed to 2027.
This decision follows the successful securing of a new sponsorship partnership that will enable us to significantly strengthen and expand the awards platform. As we embark on this new chapter, additional time is required to put in place all necessary preparations, structures, partnerships, and opportunities that will ensure a world-class awards experience for Botswana’s literary community.
While we understand that many writers and stakeholders were looking forward to the 2026 awards season, we firmly believe that this strategic decision will result in a more impactful, prestigious, and rewarding event in 2027.
We encourage all authors, poets, publishers, storytellers, academics, and literary creatives to continue writing, publishing, and producing exceptional work. Use this time to grow your portfolio, refine your craft, and prepare your best submissions.
The Botswana Literature Awards 2027 promises to bring exciting developments, enhanced categories, stronger partnerships, greater visibility for writers, and amazing prizes that will further celebrate literary excellence in Botswana.
We invite the literary community to remain engaged and be on the lookout for upcoming announcements, opportunities, special initiatives, and exciting developments as we prepare for the return of the Botswana Literature Awards in 2027.
