Dealing with foundations part 2
Psalm 11:3, Isaiah 28:16, Matthew 7:24-25_
THE QUESTION OF OUR TIME
If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”Psalm 11:3
David was told: “Flee. The system is broken. The family is broken. The church is broken. Just run.”
But David didn’t run. Why? Because he knew who the Foundation is.
When foundations shake, you don’t panic. You inspect.
First things first
WHAT ARE FOUNDATIONS?
Foundations are what you build your life on. Invisible, but everything rests on them.
This can be
1. SPIRITUAL FOUNDATION — Your prayer life, Word, altar. _1 Cor 3:11 “Jesus Christ”_
2. FAMILY FOUNDATION — Marriage, parenting, generational patterns. _Psalm 11:3_
3. MINISTRY FOUNDATION — Motive, character, calling. _Matthew 7:24_
4. FINANCIAL/NATIONAL FOUNDATION — Systems, justice, righteousness. _Proverbs 14:34_
When 1 is cracked, all the others start shaking.
SIGNS YOUR FOUNDATION IS CRACKED
1. CYCLES REPEAT— Same deliverance, same problem. Generational stuff.
2. PRESSURE EXPOSES YOU — _Rain fell, floods came_ — Matthew 7:25. What’s inside comes out.
3. QUICK FIXES DON’T WORK — You can paint the house, but if the foundation is bad, it will still fall.
HOW DO WE DEAL WITH FOUNDATIONS?
IDENTIFY THE ROCK — ISAIAH 28:16
“Behold, I lay in Zion a stone... a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation”
You can’t repair on sand. You must rebuild on Christ.
Not tradition. Not reputation. Not “we’ve always done it this way.” Christ.
DIG AND INSPECT — LUKE 6:48
“He dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock.”
Dealing with foundations is painful. It’s counseling. It’s repentance. It’s deliverance. It’s breaking covenants.
Ask yourself
What altar was raised before I was born? _Jer 1:5_
What did I agree to?
TRUST GOD DURING THE SHAKING — HEBREWS 12:27
“He will shake... so that what cannot be shaken may remain.”
God allows shaking to remove what He didn’t build. Don’t despise the shaking.
THE RESULT OF A SURE FOUNDATION
1. STANDS IN THE STORM
“It did not fall”_ Matt 7:25
2. CARRIES GENERATIONS*
“Borne from birth... to gray hairs”Isaiah 46:4
3. GLORIFIES GOD
Because it won’t collapse when you’re gone,
