BUAN and ABCB Sign MoU to Strengthen Youth Empowerment and Agricultural Consultancy Development
The Association of Business Consultants of Botswana (ABCB) is pleased to announce the successful signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Botswana University of Agriculture & Natural Resources (BUAN) on 29 October 2025 at the BUAN Administration Boardroom.
This historic partnership establishes the Agricultural Consultancy Development Programme (ACDP), a national initiative designed to train and license youth agricultural consultants, formalize consultancy practice, and strengthen Botswana’s commercial farming sector. The programme directly supports the Government of Botswana’s goal to create 500,000 jobs within five years, empowering BUAN graduates and young agricultural entrepreneurs through structured professional training, mentorship, and enterprise development.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from BUAN, including Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Research, Professor S. Ngwako, and Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, Professor M. Kgosimore, who emphasized the alignment of academic excellence with national development priorities.
Also in attendance were representatives from the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP (UNDP Botswana) and the National Agricultural Research and Development Institute (NARDI BW), both of whom commended the initiative as a progressive step toward agricultural innovation, capacity building, and sustainable youth empowerment.
This milestone reflects the realization of a three-year vision championed by Mr. Bokang F. Basejane, ABCB Executive Board Member and Public Relations Chairperson. His leadership and persistence, supported by ABCB President Mr. Thabo Leon Jeremiah and the Executive Board, have been instrumental in shaping this transformative collaboration.
The Agricultural Consultancy Development Programme will serve as a cornerstone for youth employment, professionalization of agricultural consultancy, and national food security, positioning Botswana as a leader in sustainable agricultural development.
ABCB extends its appreciation to all members, stakeholders, and partners for their continued commitment to advancing professional standards and contributing to Botswana’s economic diversification and job creation agenda.
