On Thursday’s World Autism Awareness Day, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of autistic people to communities worldwide.

“Like anyone else, autistic people should be able to shape their own lives — and help to shape our shared future. They bring talents, perspectives and contributions that make the world a better place,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres, calling for their full inclusion and participation in society.

"Through equal education, fair employment and accessible health systems, we can ensure that autistic people have the opportunities they deserve to participate and thrive,” he stressed, adding:

“Embracing diversity strengthens us all.”

Unpacking the difference between good mental health 💚 and poor mental health 😔...

From our previous post mental health is very vital for physical, emotional, spiritual wellbeing of everyone. It is therefore our responsibility to take care of our mental health.So today let's look into the difference between good and poor mental health which will give us insight on how to further take care of ourselves.

Good Mental Health
- Resilience: Ability to cope with stress, setbacks, and challenges without being overwhelmed.
- Balanced emotions: Experiencing both positive and negative feelings but managing them constructively.
- Self-esteem & confidence: Feeling good about oneself and capable of making decisions.
- Healthy relationships: Building and maintaining supportive connections with others.
- Functionality: Being able to work, study, and engage in daily life productively.
- Adaptability: Adjusting to changes and uncertainties without losing stability.

🌪 Poor Mental Health
- Persistent distress: Ongoing feelings of sadness, anxiety, or hopelessness.
- Difficulty coping: Struggling to manage everyday stress or emotions.
- Withdrawal: Avoiding social contact, relationships, or responsibilities.
- Impaired functioning: Trouble concentrating, making decisions, or performing daily tasks.
- Negative self-view: Low self-esteem, feelings of worthlessness, or self-criticism.

It is not merely the absence of illness, but a continuum that influences how people think, feel, and act.
Promoting and Protecting Mental Health💚
Proactive measures can improve mental well-being:
1.Connect: Maintain strong relationships with family, friends, and the community 🫂
2.Physical Activity: Regular exercise improves mood and reduces stress.🏋️

LETs BE LOUDER THAN THEIR SILENCE ‼️‼️
World su***de prevention day was hosted under the theme" Changing the narrative on su***de" which is simply about moving from a culture of silence and shame to a more understanding and supportive culture.

Su***de is the 3rd leading cause of death among youth globally. 1 in 7 teens battles mental health silently.These aren’t just stats,they’re stories cut short. Let’s be louder than their silence.

HOW CAN WE BE LOUDER📢 THAN THEIR SILENCE 🤐

1.eliminate stigma on mental health.

2.create a platform where people can speak freely about the emotional holes to which they find themselves in.

3.establish mental health education in social communities like schools, households, churches etc.
