The Royal Textile Academy successfully conducted 5-day in-house training on the RTA Digital Design App for our staff, strengthening their understanding and practical use of the newly developed digital platform.

The training provided hands-on experience with the appโ€™s features and demonstrated how digital tools can support the documentation, preservation, and promotion of Bhutanese textile. It also equipped our team with the knowledge needed to confidently use the platform and support its continued development and adoption.

Developed in collaboration with students of the Gyalpozhing College of Information Technology (GCIT), the RTA Digital Design App brings technology and tradition together, creating new possibilities for exploring and preserving Bhutanese textile designs.

We extend our appreciation to everyone involved in the training and look forward to making greater use of digital innovation in advancing the work of the Royal Textile Academy.

A team from the Royal Textile Academy, led by the Executive Director, attended the closing ceremony of the Summer Weaving Workshop at the The Wangduechhoeling Palace Museum and Cultural Centre - WPMCC.

The RTA is deeply honored to have supported this meaningful initiative through its flagship program โ€˜Weaving into the Future Program.โ€™ As one of Bhutan's most treasured cultural traditions, weaving is not only a craft, but a living heritage that embodies our history, identity, and values. Empowering young people with weaving skills is an important step toward ensuring that this rich tradition continues to thrive for generations to come.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the WPMCC, the dedicated weaving instructors, the students and teachers of Jakar Higher Secondary School, and everyone who contributed to the success of this inaugural workshop.

The RTA remains committed to supporting initiatives that preserve, promote, and celebrate Bhutan's rich textile heritage for future generations.

As schools across Bhutan resume classes after the mid-term break, the Royal Textile Academy warmly invites schools from every Dzongkhag to visit the Textile Museum for an enriching educational experience.
Students will enjoy a guided tour of the Academy and explore our special exhibition, The Visionary Monarch: A Tribute to the Fourth King's Enduring Legacy, commemorating the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. They will also have the opportunity to witness the newly inaugurated and consecrated Guru Tshengye Thongdrรถl, both formally opened last month by His Royal Highness Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck.
The exhibition features rare photographs, artefacts, archival materials, and interactive displays celebrating His Majesty's visionary leadership and Bhutan's development. Students will also learn about Thagzo, the traditional art of weaving, and gain a deeper appreciation of Bhutan's rich textile heritage, craftsmanship, and cultural traditions.
We encourage all schools to make the most of this opportunity by organizing an educational visit that inspires curiosity, creativity, and pride in Bhutan's cultural heritage.
