🌿 Honoring Our Rangers on World Ranger Day 🌿

Today, on World Ranger Day, we pay tribute to the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting our forests, wildlife, and natural heritage. Their commitment, often under challenging and dangerous conditions, helps safeguard biodiversity for future generations.

We also remember those rangers who have lost their lives or been injured in the line of duty. Their courage and sacrifice remind us that conservation is not just about protecting nature—it is about protecting our shared future.

Let us all play our part by respecting nature, supporting conservation efforts, and appreciating the invaluable work of our rangers.

𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘾𝙝𝙝𝙪𝙠𝙝𝙖

The “Yes, We Care” drug prevention and awareness campaign was officially launched in Chukha Dzongkhag on 27 July 2026 at the Phuntsholing Dungkhag Administration, with the ceremony chaired by the Dasho Dungpa and attended by sector heads and staff. The campaign will run from 27 July to 25 August 2026, reaching schools, offices, communities, youth groups, families, and local leaders across the Dzongkhag.

Initiated by the Chithuen Phendhey Association (CPA), the campaign addresses growing concerns related to substance use disorders and mental health challenges among Bhutanese youth. It emphasizes that protecting young people requires collective responsibility from parents, educators, policymakers, and communities.

Guided by the theme “Yes, We Care,” the campaign calls for stronger family engagement, supportive learning environments, evidence-based policies, and communities that empower youth to make positive choices. The initiative is inspired by His Majesty The King’s 2022 National Day Address, which highlighted substance abuse as a serious national concern requiring urgent collective action.

The campaign is a key component of the Comprehensive Reintegration and Intervention Program for Substance Use Disorder (CRIP), supported by OCASC and CSOA and funded through the Government of India under GOI PTA grant . CPA expressed gratitude to the Chukha Dzongkhag Administration and all partners for their support in making the initiative possible.

International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026

The World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses

The observance began with the offering of butter lamps and prayers for those affected by substance use disorders, their families, and communities, while remembering those who have lost their lives to addiction. It was a moment of reflection, hope, and our shared commitment to building a healthier and more compassionate society.

The program highlighted the significance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, emphasizing that while the global drug problem continues to evolve with new challenges, our responses must also evolve through prevention, evidence-based treatment, recovery support, community engagement, and collaboration.

One of the most powerful moments of the event was hearing from people with lived experiences of addiction and recovery. They shared their personal journeys, the challenges they faced, the hope they found through recovery, and the importance of family, community support, and access to treatment. Their stories reminded us that recovery is possible and that every person deserves dignity, compassion, and a second chance.

On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to preventing substance use, reducing stigma, supporting recovery, and working together to create a Bhutan where every individual has the opportunity to live a healthy, meaningful, and drug-free life.

Together, let us turn hope into action and innovation into lasting change.

🌿 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟐 — 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬, 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞

Today's Drug Prevention and Awareness Program brought vital awareness to two schools.

The morning began with a meaningful session at Sengdhyen Lower Secondary School, where teachers and students engaged in open, honest conversations about the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences, substance use and the critical importance of early intervention.

The afternoon carried us to Tash*thang Middle Secondary School, Samtse, where educators and students came together to explore healthy coping strategies, understand the risks of drug abuse, and strengthen the protective factors that shield young lives.

"This session opened our eyes to issues we see every day but rarely discuss openly. The tools and strategies shared today will help us better support our students not just inside the classroom, but in their lives beyond it. We are grateful." — Teacher

𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟭 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞

As part of the ongoing Drug Prevention and Awareness Program, the CPA team conducted a session on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) for the health workers of Dorokha 10-Bedded Hospital on 30th May 2026.

💡 ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) are potentially traumatic events in childhood that have lasting impacts on health and behaviour. Equipping health workers with this knowledge enables them to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care and support those at risk of substance use.

The session provided health workers with valuable insights into the link between early-life adversity and substance use, strengthening their ability to identify and support vulnerable individuals in our communities.

💪 When health workers understand ACEs, the entire community benefits. Families receive more empathetic support, vulnerable children are identified and protected sooner, and the link between childhood trauma and adult substance use is broken through timely, informed intervention. A trauma-aware health workforce is the foundation of a healthier, drug-free Bhutan.

The CPA team continues its dedicated efforts — building knowledge, building resilience, and building a healthier Bhutan. 🇧🇹🌿
