Somewhere right now, a teacher is bringing learning to life and giving children the knowledge and confidence to thrive in a complex world.

To succeed, teachers need more than our gratitude. They need training, resources, mentorship, and a strong voice in shaping education.

This National Teacher’s Day, UNICEF stands with teachers everywhere, celebrating their dedication to ensure every child learns in safe, inclusive classrooms.

When parents choose to vaccinate, they protect not only their children, but future generations too.

Vaccines are the safest and most effective way to shield children from serious disease, and Bhutan is leading by example.

Bhutan has achieved an overall childhood immunization coverage of 99.4%, reaching nearly every child in the country.

This remarkable achievement reflects the strength of Bhutan's primary health care system, the reliability of its cold chain networks, and the dedication of its frontline health workers.

During visits to Khaling Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Trashigang and Dungzam PHC in Trashiyangtse, UNICEF Representative appreciated how UNICEF-supported cold chain equipment are helping ensure vaccines remain potent from storage all the way to delivery.

Inclusion starts with opportunity. Accessible schools, workplaces, and public spaces benefit everyone, not just children with disabilities.

At the Museling Institute for the Blind in Trashigang, children are learning with UNICEF‑supplied Assistive Digital Technology, gaining digital skills and confidence for the future. Currently, 21 students are enrolled at the institute, including 16 boys and five girls.

When every child can learn and thrive, society becomes stronger, fairer, and more resilient.

UNICEF Representative Rushnan Murtaza is currently on an East Mission in Bhutan. Her mission began in Mongar district, the eastern gateway of the country.
In Jurmey community, she witnessed firsthand how water scarcity has affected daily life. Through collective efforts by UNICEF and partners, the community’s single spring source is slowly coming back to life. Once restored, it will serve 304 households, bringing renewed hope and dignity.

The Representative also visited a Nunnery in Mongar, where nuns are using the Akelius application to strengthen their English and numeracy skills. The visit ended on a joyful note with a friendly basketball match at the UNICEF-supported basketball court.

Later in the day, the Representative met with the Mongar district governor, during which discussions focused on health, education, and women and girls' safe spaces, as well as the district’s achievements, challenges, and priorities for the year ahead.
