Overlooking the sacred Druk Phodrangding Monastery at Pangrizampa in Thimphu sits a unique sanctuary—𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘛𝘢𝘳𝘢 𝘓𝘩𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘡𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘬𝘩𝘢𝘮 𝘛𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦.

Formally inaugurated on June 6, 2014, this Abode of the Taras was built under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck. It holds a special place in Bhutanese hearts as the first temple in the Kingdom dedicated entirely to the 21 Taras, embodying Her Majesty’s deep aspiration for peace and the well-being of all sentient beings.

Beyond physical structures, Her Majesty’s patronage focuses on keeping Bhutan’s spiritual roots vibrant and resilient in a modern world. By restoring ancient monasteries and providing monastic communities with the food, education, and resources they need to thrive, Her Majesty ensures that these sacred sites remain active centers of practice. Supporting these initiatives isn't just about preserving the past; it’s about safeguarding the Buddha’s teachings as a source of inner peace and carrying Bhutan’s unique heritage forward for future generations.

Also known as Women and Girls’ Safe Space, the Centers have reached more than 100,000 people since 2022

Haa, 8 March 2026: Coinciding with International Women’s Day celebrations, Her Majesty The Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck, the Royal Patron of RENEW, graced the inaugural of Bhutan’s 15th RENEW Community Service Center (CSC) in Haa today, strengthening Bhutan’s commitment to preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV).

Also known as Women and Girls’ Safe Space, the RENEW CSC plays a critical role in preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against children (VAC) cases through coordinated, survivor-centered approaches. These centres ensure access to safe, confidential, and professional support services at the dzongkhag level and help build resilient and protective communities.

Located near Haa town by the Traditional Medicine Hospital, the RENEW Community Service Center will cater support services to women, children, and community members in difficult circumstances.
