The Bhutan Youth Development Fund "A better today, a brighter tomorrow for the youth of Bhutan" An estimated 56 percent of the population in Bhutan are youth below the age of 25.

With a special focus on disadvantaged youth, the Bhutan Youth Development Fund (YDF) enables Bhutanese youth to realize their full potential as productive citizens and leaders. The Bhutan Youth Development Fund is a senior member of civil society, founded in 1999 by His Majesty the Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck. YDF is known as an advocate for disability rights, substance abuse prevention and

treatment, child rights and protection, educational equity, employment, and other important issues impacting youth. Under the leadership of the President, Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Tseyring Pem Wangchuck, the Bhutan YDF provides financial and program support for youth development activities like leadership and volunteerism, drug rehabilitation, special education, livelihood development skills and vocational training, and advocacy for youth-oriented policy.

This initiative was officially launched on June 2, 2023, by ๐‡๐ž๐ซ ๐Œ๐š๐ฃ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฒ ๐†๐ฒ๐š๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐“๐ฌ๐ž๐ฒ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐๐ž๐ฆ ๐–๐š๐ง๐ ๐œ๐ก๐ฎ๐œ๐ค, ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ of the Bhutan Youth Development Fund, to commemorate the 49th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. As part of its on-going commitment to honor His Majesty and combat climate change, BYDF is striving to plant 1 million trees and contribute to the green economy of the country. BYDF has chosen to focus on planting the best tree species that absorb the highest carbon dioxide. The organization aims to plant ๐Ÿ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐ž๐ฌ ๐›๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ over a period of 10 years.

Coinciding with the Social Forestry Day, the ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐  ๐•๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐ˆ๐ง ๐€๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง (๐˜-๐•๐ˆ๐€) Network was launched at ๐๐š๐ณ๐ก๐จ๐ž๐ง ๐๐ž๐ฅ๐ซ๐ข ๐’๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ with registration of ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ” ๐˜-๐•๐ˆ๐€ members and also identified the two earth ambassadors from NPS. We extend our highest respects and warmest welcome to the faculty and students of NPS as they join our youth national network of volunteers.

The Bhutan Youth Development Fund extends our humblest and heartfelt congratulations to ๐‡๐ข๐ฌ ๐’๐ž๐ซ๐ž๐ง๐ž ๐‡๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฌ๐ก๐จ ๐‰๐ข๐ ๐ฆ๐ž ๐”๐ ๐ฒ๐ž๐ง ๐–๐š๐ง๐ ๐œ๐ก๐ฎ๐œ๐ค on the successful completion of the three-month training at ๐†๐ฒ๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ง๐  ๐€๐œ๐š๐๐ž๐ฆ๐ฒ in Khotokha, Wangdue Phodrang.

We are immensely proud to celebrate His Serene Highnessโ€™s outstanding achievements throughout the training, where he excelled alongside 416 Gyalsups and was awarded exceptional medals and certificates of merit. His Serene Highnessโ€™s exemplary conduct and achievements stand as a profound source of inspiration for the youth of Bhutan, embodying the values of leadership, humility, and patriotism that Gyalsung seeks to nurture in every young Bhutanese.

As these young Gyalsups step forward prepared to serve the Tsa-Wa-Sum, we are reminded of the powerful vision of His Majesty The King in building a strong, capable, and united Bhutan through Gyalsung.
