On 3rd April, the Royal Society for Senior Citizens successfully conducted a meeting with relevant stakeholders to develop a coordination and collaboration framework for the project titled “Home/Community-Based Long-Term Care: Care and Support for Older Persons,” ( A Pilot Project in Thimphu) funded by the Government of India through Project Tied Assistance (PTA).

RSSC would like to sincerely thank all our valued stakeholders for their continued support and commitment to this initiative.We look forward to working together with the same dedication and collaboration until the successful completion of the project.

Royal Society for Senior Citizens, in collaboration with the Bhutan Red Cross Society, conducted an advocacy program on the National Policy for Senior Citizens on 29th December 2025 in Sarpang Dzongkhag. The program was attended by senior citizens and members of Gaysho Lhayul Drangsong Tshogpa (GLDT), the local chapter of RSSC in Gelephu.

This program was conducted as part of the ongoing Healthy Ageing Project funded by the Swiss Red Cross and implemented by RSSC in partnership with the Bhutan Red Cross Society.

A day-long program on “Sensitization on Geriatric Care & Services for Caregivers” was held on 26th November in Phuentsholing. Caregivers, Red Cross Youth volunteers, and senior citizens kindly took part in the session.

The program was graciously facilitated by Dr. Sonam Choki, Geriatric Physician from JDWNRH, as part of the ongoing Healthy Aging Project, a collaborative initiative of the Bhutan Red Cross Society and the Royal Society for Senior Citizens, supported by the Swiss Red Cross.

The session covered the following key areas:
• Understanding age-related physical, psychological, and social changes
• Common geriatric concerns such as dementia, depression, delirium, falls, malnutrition, polypharmacy, and frailty
• Practical caregiver interventions for major body systems
• Promoting dignity, respect, and compassion in caregiving
• Strengthening communication and decision-making support for older adults
• Caregiver self-care and recognizing early signs of burnout

RSSC would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Bhutan Red Cross Society for the continued partnership, and especially to the Swiss Red Cross for funding the Heatly Aging project.

RSSC also offer our sincere thanks to JDWNRH and Phuentsholing Hospital for their kind cooperation, and to Arura Academy of Health Science Medical Institute for assisting in mobilizing the Bhutan Red Cross Youth volunteers

In commemoration of the 70th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, the Royal Society for Senior Citizens is honored to present a coffee table book titled “Seventy Years of Reverence: A Tribute to a Beloved Monarch.”

The book features heartfelt reflections and tributes from former Lyonpos, Dashos, and senior officials who had the privilege of serving during the reign of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

The Royal Society for Senior Citizens humbly joins the nation in offering our deepest respect and warmest wishes for His Majesty’s long life and happiness.
