Tshering Tobgyal,Bhutanese, a student in the Japanese Language Department at Fukuoka Kokudokensetsu Senmon Gakkou, won the Grand Prize at the Ōnojō City Speech Contest with his speech titled “On Responsibility.”
The 12th Ōnojō City English and Japanese Speech Contest was held on November 2, 2025, at Madokapia Hall. As a multicultural event aimed at promoting international exchange, it drew significant attention. Tshering Tobgyal participated in the Japanese language division and delivered a compelling speech on the theme of “Responsibility,” earning him the top prize.
In his speech, he emphasized that responsibility means being sincere in one’s actions and is an essential value for building trust in relationships with others. Drawing from his personal experiences as a student from Bhutan studying in Japan, he spoke about the cultural differences he encountered and how they deepened his understanding of responsibility. His heartfelt delivery and thoughtful reflections resonated strongly with both the judges and the audience.
