Q***r Voices of Bhutan, in collaboration with RENEW, stands in solidarity with the transgender community in Bhutan.

Transgender Day of Visibility is observed globally to celebrate the lives, contributions, and resilience of transgender people, while raising awareness on the challenges they face.

We reaffirm our commitment to promoting visibility, inclusion, and respect for all.

We had a great opportunity to meet Hon. Dasho Kesang Chuki Dorjee. It was an inspiring and thoughtful exchange, where we were able to reflect on our work, share our perspectives, and learn from her experience.

We are grateful to Kuensel for featuring She Lives in the Mirror, a film written and directed by Pema Dorji from Q***r Voices of Bhutan.

It is encouraging to see Bhutanese stories and q***r voices being shared and recognised through platforms like this.

This film has been a deeply personal journey. The story stayed with the filmmaker for many years before it was finally brought to life. Being able to write and direct the film has also strengthened confidence in storytelling and in sharing narratives that reflect diverse experiences.

Our sincere thanks to Chand R C and Golan Pictures, BICMA and to Art for People programme under which this project was developed. We are also thankful to the team whose dedication helped make this film possible.

We are also happy to share that She Lives in the Mirror will be screened at the Cinema Asia Film Festival 2026 (8-12th April) in Netherland

Authentic q***r stories are often best told by q***r storytellers themselves. Their perspectives and lived experiences help ensure that the stories are genuine, respectful, and meaningful.

Kuensel is the national newspaper of the Kingdom of Bhutan. It was the only local newspaper available in Bhutan until 2006 when two more newspapers were launched. The government of Bhutan owns 51% of Kuensel while 49% is held by the public.

We successfully concluded our quarterly Board meeting, where we discussed and planned our priorities for 2026.

On International Women’s Day, Q***r Voices of Bhutan celebrates the strength and resilience of all women.

We stand in solidarity with women everywhere, including q***r and trans women, and continue working towards a more inclusive and equal society.

Over the past two days in Paro, we successfully completed our Capacity Building Training on Civic Engagement.

Community members came together to strengthen their knowledge, build practical skills and grow in confidence. The discussions were thoughtful, the engagement was strong, and the commitment to continue this work was clear.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Save the Children Bhutan, the EU in India, and the EU International Partnerships for their support of this initiative.

Our special thanks to Dasho Nima and Dasho Sangay Khandu from the Center for Local Governance & Research for guiding the sessions with clarity and depth.

We also appreciate PrideBhutan for joining the workshop as a community partner and active participant.

And most importantly, thank you to all participants for your openness, courage and engagement. Your leadership drives this work forward.

Together, we continue building stronger and more informed community engagement.

This Valentine’s Day, we are celebrating love in all its forms.

And the love we are still learning to give ourselves.

Love does not fit into one shape. It does not ask for permission to exist. It simply grows, in its own way, in its own time.
