Druk School has conducted a theory class for the Nazhoen Scouts covering the following topics;
History of Scouting
- Started by Lord Robert Baden-Powell in 1907 in England
- First experimental camp: Brownsea Island with 20 boys
- Spread worldwide; the Bhutan Scouts Association began in 1996
Fundamentals of Scouting
- The 3 core parts that define Scouting everywhere: Purpose, Principles, and Method
- They’re the foundation - change these and it’s no longer Scouting
Mission of Scouting
- To contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled and play a constructive role in society
Definition of Scouting
- A voluntary, non-political educational movement for young people
- Open to all, using non-formal education through outdoor activities and service
Purpose of Scouting
- To develop young people physically, intellectually, socially, and spiritually
- Goal: responsible citizens and leaders
Principles of Scouting
- 3 main principles:
1. Duty to God – spiritual belief
2. Duty to Others – community, country, helping people
3. Duty to Self – personal growth, responsibility

Scout Promise
- A personal pledge made by every Scout
Scout Law
- 10 points guiding Scout behavior: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, and Clean in thought, word, and deed
Scout Ideals
- The shared values from Promise & Law that Scouts live by: service, character, citizenship, and fitness!
