Two-Week Japanese Cuisine Course Concludes at Kaja Throm, Punakha

The two-week Japanese Cuisine Course at Kaja Throm concluded today, led by expert Japanese trainer Ms. Junko Azaki. The course aimed to upskill Kaja Throm operators, refine the existing Japanese menu, and introduce new Japanese dishes.
As a direct outcome, the Kaja Throm has enhanced its ramen line and added popular dishes including sushi, onigiri, shogayaki, miso soup, cheesecake and dorayaki.
The closing programme was graced by Dasho Dzongdag as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Dasho Dzongrab. Congratulating the trainees, Dasho Dzongdag highlighted that such upskilling initiatives contribute to enhancing the experience of visitors to Punakha, with Kaja Throm emerging as a popular destination for both tourists and local visitors.
The trainees expressed their gratitude to His Majesty The King and DSP for the opportunity, sharing that the training has diversified their skills and enabled them to contribute to the local economy and the country's wider economic development.
The course brought together Kaja Throm staff and Japanese language trainees, creating an integrated opportunity for both culinary and language-related skills development.

From Skills to Stories: Desuung Skilling Programme

The Designing and Photography trainees of the Desuung Skilling Programme (DSP) are putting their skills into practice through the “Two Earths, One Choice” Environmental Exhibition.

This exhibition is more than just a display of creative work~ it showcases how skilling can turn learning into practical, meaningful outcomes. Through photography, digital design and stop-motion, the trainees have developed skills in visual storytelling, creative communication, composition, editing and content creation, while exploring an important environmental message.

📸 Their Designing and Photography works can also be viewed on their individual YouTube channel.

🌱 The “Two Earths, One Choice” Photo Exhibition and Stop-Motion materials are on display at Kaja Throm, Thimphu, until tomorrow, 18 September 2026, from 10:00 AM–5:00 PM.

Tally Prime Course

The Tally Prime Course is a one-month, practical accounting training programme designed to equip participants with employment-oriented skills in computerized accounting. The course covers Tally Prime operations, company and ledger creation, accounting transactions, inventory management, banking and reconciliation, tax-related accounting, and financial reporting. Participants will also complete practical exercises and a simulated business case to apply their learning in a realistic work environment.

Key outcome: *Participants will be able to use TallyPrime for day-to-day accounting tasks, manage basic financial and inventory records, generate accounting reports, and apply their skills in offices, businesses, institutions, and entrepreneurial activities.*

9. DSP Impact Stories – De-suup Kinley Cheki

From a De-suup trainee with a passion for ICT to becoming a DevOps Engineer, Kinley Cheki’s journey demonstrates how practical skills and new opportunities can turn an interest into a meaningful career.

Kinley completed the ICT Foundation programme under the De-suung Skilling Programme (DSP), followed by upskilling in Data Analytics. The training equipped her with practical knowledge and helped her take her first steps into the field of Information Technology.

After completing her training, Kinley began her professional journey with Cloud Bhutan, where she worked for one year. Today, she works as a DevOps Engineer at DK, an emerging profession in Bhutan.

Although Kinley holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Physics from Sherubtse College, her academic background is different from her current profession. Her interest in ICT, which began at a young age, encouraged her to explore technology, while DSP provided the practical skills and opportunity to turn that interest into a career.

Her journey highlights the importance of continuous learning, determination, and the courage to explore new possibilities. Kinley proudly acknowledges the role DSP played in helping her enter the IT sector and build a career aligned with her interests.

She expresses her gratitude to His Majesty The King and the De-suung Skilling Programme for creating opportunities for young people to gain practical skills, explore new fields, and build careers beyond their academic backgrounds.
