Program: Celebrating International Youth Day 2026
Theme: 🌏 “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations”
Young people come from different backgrounds, cultures, communities and circumstances, but
they share common hopes and aspirations for respect, inclusion, education, well-being,
opportunities and a better future. Young people come from different backgrounds, cultures, communities and life
experiences, but they share common aspirations for respect, inclusion, education, well-being,
opportunities and a better future. However, bullying can become a barrier to achieving these
aspirations by making young people feel unsafe, excluded, discouraged and less confident to
participate and express themselves. Strengthening anti-bullying efforts helps remove these
barriers by promoting kindness, respect, inclusion, empathy and mutual support. When young
people stand together against bullying, they create a safe and supportive environment where
everyone feels valued, can participate equally, develop their talents and work towards their
dreams. Thus, addressing bullying is an important step towards achieving the spirit of
“Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”
Damphu CS marked the day with an awareness program on bullying through different activities with students and teachers.

YVIA of Damphu Central School observed Social Forestry Day on 2nd June 2026 in conjunction with the Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Singye Wangchuck. The programme brought together teachers, School Captains, Class 9 and 10 girls, and Youth Volunteers in Action (YVIA) members for prayers, tree planting, and activities promoting environmental conservation, leadership, and service. School Captains participated as symbols of responsible leadership, while Class 9 and 10 girls represented the school’s commitment to empowering young women and developing future leaders. YVIA members showcased the spirit of volunteerism and community service. The YVIA members extends its sincere gratitude to the Bhutan Youth Development Fund (BYDF) for providing saplings and refreshments, which greatly contributed to the success of the programme. The celebration honored the enduring legacy of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo and reinforced the values of environmental stewardship, youth empowerment, and community responsibility.

Damphu Central School proudly won the 2nd Prize in the National Innovation Challenge with the Vermicompost Project, inspired through the UPSHIFT Bootcamp conducted in the school. The project, which started last year, focuses on converting organic waste such as dry leaves and kitchen waste into eco-friendly, nutrient-rich fertilizer. The vermicompost unit was inaugurated on 15 May 2026 at the school MPH by Bhim Kumar Sir during the STEM Exhibition in the presence of teachers and students. The initiative promoted environmental protection, cleanliness, waste management, sustainable farming practices, and also helped develop employment opportunities and entrepreneurial skills among youth. The project received great appreciation for encouraging innovation, self-reliance, and sustainable living. The school extends heartfelt gratitude to all supporting organizations and partners, including School Y-VIA, Moktan AGRI hub, School Administration, UPSHIFT, Youth Development Fund (YDF), UNICEF, for their valuable support and encouragement.
