SOCIAL PROTECTION IS A HUMAN RIGHT
In The Bahamas, social protection must reach everyone—especially those who are most vulnerable and too often left behind.
A strong social protection system is more than providing assistance during difficult times. It is about ensuring dignity, security, opportunity, and equal access to essential services for people who need them most.
This includes LGBTQIA+ people, persons with disabilities, older persons, people living with HIV, women and children experiencing violence, low-income families, migrants and other marginalized communities.
We must continue advocating for policies and programs that provide access to healthcare, safe housing, food security, employment opportunities, mental health support, education, emergency assistance, and protection from discrimination and violence.
No Bahamian should have to choose between eating and paying rent. No vulnerable person should be denied support because of who they are. And no community should become invisible simply because its needs are uncomfortable to discuss.
As The Bahamas moves forward, our development must be measured not only by economic growth, but by how well we protect people who are most at risk of being left behind.
Social protection means leaving no one behind.
