Today we are pleased to spotlight Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative ( ) Fellow Shavonne Strachan as we celebrate Women’s History Month!
Shavonne successfully submitted a proposal to participate in the 2023 Alumni Collaboration Grants program!
This networking experience will provide an opportunity for approximately 30 alumni from the 2021 virtual cohort to travel to the United States for three weeks, collaborate with a U.S. partner, and participate in the YLAI Closing Forum in Washington, DC.
The selected grantees will be abroad for three weeks -- from May 29 to June 16, 2023. This includes two weeks of in-person collaboration with a U.S. host organization or other U.S.-based program partner and one week at the 2023 YLAI Fellowship Program’s Closing Forum event in Washington, DC.
The grant will build selected alumni's entrepreneurial and leadership skills and allow alumni to network with each other, U.S. businesses, and social entrepreneurial professionals.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person participation for the 2021 YLAI Fellowship was suspended, and Shavonne’s program was held virtually. We are extremely pleased that Shavonne will now have an opportunity to travel to the United States to participate in an in-person networking experience for YLAI alumni.
Shavonne is the founder of WeLife Foundation, a non-governmental organization established in 2016. WeLife is an acronym for “We Live in Freedom Everlasting.”
She travels throughout The Bahamas hosting charitable events in inner-city communities with a focus on youth empowerment.
