The revitalization of five parks across New Providence, namely Pastel Gardens Park, Peggy Philips Park, Yamacraw Shores Park, High Tree Estates Community Park and Nassau East Park; represents a tangible investment in community well-being, recreation and the preservation of our national assets.

Under the leadership of Executive Chairman, the Hon. Jamahl D. Strachan, The Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority has restored recreational amenities and refreshed park surroundings; enhancing the settings where residents gather and strengthen community ties.
Central to this achievement is our hardworking team, whose expertise and diligence in their work have brought these improvements to fruition.
With another five parks slated for revitalization, that commitment continues. We do more than cut grass!

The Hon. Jamahl D. Strachan, M.P., Executive Chairman of The Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority, addressed the House of Assembly on Wednesday 7th October, accompanied by Managing Director David Barry, Senior Operations Director Samantha Anderson, Deputy Managing Director Ellis Farrington, Senior Executive Manager Andrea Moss and Secretary to the Board Llewellyn Astwood. His contribution underscored the significance of the Authority’s park rehabilitation program, with five parks completed across New Providence and another five slated for renewal. The Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority urges everyone to help protect the spaces that bring our communities together. Our parks and beaches are places for recreation, relaxation, and connection, and keeping them safe, clean, and vandalism free is a shared responsibility.
Respect public property, help keep restroom facilities clean and properly maintained, report acts of vandalism to the relevant authorities, and encourage others to take pride in these shared spaces. Every positive action helps preserve our parks, beaches, and amenities for future generations.
Protect our parks. Preserve our beaches. Respect our facilities. Take pride in our Bahamas.

On Saturday, September 19, The Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority joined The Bahamas Environmental Group and the Baha Mar Resort Foundation in recognition of International Coastal Cleanup Day. As part of a beach revegetation project at Saunders Beach, 450 native plants, including cocoplum trees, buttonwood trees, and sea grape trees, were planted to help restore and stabilize the shoreline.
Executive Chairman, the Hon. Jamahl Strachan; Managing Director David Barry; Senior Operations Director Samantha Anderson; Deputy Director Ellis Farrington; and Authority staff participated in the planting exercise, demonstrating the collective responsibility required to preserve The Bahamas’ coastlines for generations to come

Today, staff across the Authority wore orange and orange pins in a powerful display of compassion, awareness, and solidarity in observance of World Su***de Prevention Day.

We stood together in recognition of those who may be facing silent battles, those who have lost loved ones to su***de, and those who simply need to be reminded that they matter, they are valued, and they are not alone. Today reminded us that compassion, understanding, and kindness can make a difference sometimes more than we realize.

Our Senior Operations Director, Ms. Samantha Anderson, shared cupcakes with staff, each carrying messages of encouragement and hope. More than a simple gesture, it was a heartfelt reminder that well being matters and that creating a workplace where people feel seen, supported, and cared for is everyone’s responsibility.

Together, we wear orange. Together, we spread hope. Together, we choose to remind one another that every life has value.🧡

Monday, September 7th marked the beginning of a new journey as Executive Chairman, the Hon. Jamahl Strachan; Managing Director David Barry; and Senior Operations Director Samantha Anderson welcomed 11 new employees during an onboarding session.

As our second cohort, these employees will represent The Bahamas Public Parks and Public Beaches Authority in various roles. We are delighted to welcome them to the team and wish them every success.
