FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Kiwanis Bahamas Division 22 welcomed EC&C Governor Cynthia Blackman, her husband Micheal and her son Mihaley for her official visit to The Bahamas, on Thursday, February 19,2026. Distinguished Governor Melford, Vice Governor Christine and Lieutenant Governor Joan headed the airport delegation to officially welcome the Blackmans. A K- Kid from the Sybil Strachan Primary school presented Governor Cynthia with a breathtaking arrangement of flowers. Following arrival photos, Governor was whisked away by Teddy’s Limo services, owned by Distinguished President W. Dwayne Brown to her weekend home at the Atlantis Resort.

During the evening, a Bahamian themed Welcome Dinner was held at The Atlantis Resort. This event saw a gathering of club secretaries, presidents and past lieutenant governors to mark the start of an eventful visit.

Friday, February 20th ’s list of events began with two official visits. Frist, Governor Cynthia led a team of Kiwanians on a courtesy call to Mrs. Shanta Knowles, the first female Commissioner of Police for The Bahamas and a Distinguished President from the Kiwanis Club of Cable Beach. After, the group visited the Office of the Spouse of The Prime Minister of the Bahamas, where Lady Ann-Marie Davis welcomed and thanked Kiwanians for all they do to better The Bahamas.

Early afternoon on Friday was spent in service with our SLP students. A soursop tree was planted at the Sybil Strachan Primary school with K-Kids, and a beautification project followed at D.W. Davis Jr. High with Builders Club members. At the second project, Kiwanians gathered to support our future leaders who pulled weeds, raked pebbles, collected debris for disposal, and planted new flowers.

Friday evening was a time of fellowship and celebration. LG Joan hosted a Division Interclub to formally gather Kiwanians from the division. Additionally, this event served as the perfect opportunity to hold the official charter ceremony of Kiwanis Club Voices-Nova Bahamas, the district’s first voices club! Governor thanked Kiwanians for their service and presented tokens of appreciation to members serving at the district level.

On Saturday, February 21, Governor Cynthia and a team of Kiwanians traveled to Eleuthera Island to commune with our three Kiwanis clubs on that island. Governor got a firsthand experience with the Kiwanis Club of Central Eleuthera’s Signature Project, “Playing in the Garden”. The team of volunteers upcycled tires, which they branded with the ‘K’ seal, and planted new trees. Participating SLP students had an opportunity to show off their talent and creativity through painting art pieces that could be displayed in the garden. Additionally, checks were done on the raised plant beds that already contained freshly grown produce.

Sunday, February 22nd began with a church service at the historic Christ Church Cathedral, an Anglican edifice whose structure dates to 1670. Scores of Kiwanians turned out for this service which featured greetings from Governor Cynthia and a presentation to the church’s Children’s Ministry from Division 22. It was also during this time that the ZNS News Network choose to interview Governor on the impact of Kiwanis around the world. ZNS is the leading and longest serving public broadcaster in The Bahamas.

The day ended with a bunch for Kiwanians at the picturesque Bahamar Resort. It was a time of great food and fellowship. As a thank you, Governor Cynthia presented Kiwanians present with her official pin and expressed her gratitude to LG Joan and the division for a memorable experience.

Governor Cynthia and her family departed New Providence Island on Monday, February 23rd, leaving behind a rejuvenated division, committed to passion and purpose.

Happy Kiwanis Builders Club Week!

Builders Club week occurs annually during the last full week of February. This time gives members the opportunity to show their community what Builders Club is truly about: service.

Builders Club Week is about sharing its story with club’s community – how members feel belonging to their club, thanking supporters, and spreading the news about Builders Club and the Kiwanis family of which it is a part.

This year, Kiwanis Builders Club Bahamas District presents an opportunity for clubbers to show their creativity through their Graphic Design, Speaking and Video Editing skills! These opportunities allow for students to share their Kiwanis Builders Club Pride, AND win CASH & Prizes!
