Mangrove Mania is a community engagement and outreach effort in which the coordinators incentivize the community to work together to source a substantial number of mangrove propagules for planting efforts.

A typical mangrove planting exercise takes a lot of planning - from tracking low tide windows to hoping today won’t be as muddy as the last trip. 😅

But every step through the mud is worth it. We do it to restore what has been damaged and give these ecosystems a fighting chance. 🇧🇸

A big thank you to the Bonaventure University volunteers for helping me pot almost 1,500 mangrove propagules!

Restoration work takes many hands, and your energy and willingness to jump in made a huge difference today. Each propagule planted is a step toward stronger coastlines and healthier ecosystems.

The students of James A. Pinder Primary School - Sandy Point, Abaco, led by their teacher Ms. Roya Williamson, have embarked on an inspiring journey this school year to replant at least 200 mangroves.
Today marked their second trip into the creek to collect propagules for their growing nursery.

They already have over 50 propagules planted at the school and are working toward adding 150 more!

The children and teachers are buzzing with excitement and are looking forward to partnering with Friends of the Environment and Waterkeepers Bahamas to reintroduce these mangroves back into their natural habitat in late June 2026.

Big hearts, muddy shoes, and a greener future ahead!
