The Pilot Club of Nassau held its 2nd meeting of the new Pilot year to discuss and approve the proposed Budget for 2026-2027.

President Donna Turnquest chaired the meeting and after much debate the budget was approved with all Division Plan of Works, Club Expenses and community service projects included. The Budget will now serve as a financial guide for the new Pilot year.

We congratulate Projects Coordinator Pamela Lightbourne who was elected as the club’s 2026-2027 PIFF Ambassador.

Pilots who celebrated birthdays during the month of August were also recognized during the meeting.

As we continue the work of Pilot “United in Service, Stronger in Purpose” we are committed to ensuring a brighter future for our community as we come together in Friendship and Service.

On Sunday August 16th, President Donna Turnquest along with members of the Pilot Club of Nassau came together in faith and fellowship to seek Gods guidance for a new year of meaningful service and impact at All Saints Anglican Church, Joan’s Heights Nassau Bahamas.

Fr. Bradley Miller took his sermon from the gospel of Matthew chapter 15:10-20 where Jesus told the crowd that “What goes into a man’s mouth does not make him unclean, but what comes out of his mouth is what makes him unclean”. The disciples later told Jesus that the Pharisees were offended by this and Jesus went on to say that “Every plant that the Heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots”. He also explained the parable, that whatever enters into the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body but the things that comes out of the mouth come from the heart and these make a man unclean. For out of the heart comes evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what makes a man unclean not eating with unwashed hands.

This year’s theme “United in Service, Stronger in Purpose” reminds us of what makes Pilot truly special. We are united by a common desire - to serve others and to make a meaningful difference in our community. Purpose gives direction to our actions and reminds us of why we dedicate our time talents and resources to helping others.

The Pilot Club of Nassau was delighted to host its 2026–2027 Leadership Development Seminar this morning, bringing together our Officers and Appointees for a meaningful morning of learning, fellowship, and preparation for the year ahead.

As we begin this new Pilot year under the leadership of Donna Turnquest, 53rd President of the Pilot Club of Nassau, we are proud to embrace her theme: ‘ United in Service, Stronger in Purpose.”

This theme reminds us that when we work together with a shared commitment to service, we become stronger in our purpose and greater in our impact.

The seminar provided an opportunity for our leadership team to deepen their understanding of their roles, strengthen relationships, and engage in thoughtful discussions that will help guide our Club throughout the coming year.

A heartfelt thank you to our Past President and Leadership Coordinator, Anthia J. Butler, for thoughtfully designing and facilitating today’s seminar under the theme, “Lead with Purpose. Serve with Impact.” Her message challenged each participant to lead with intention, serve with excellence, and recognize the influence each of us has in advancing the mission of Pilot.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Past President and Director Elaine Clare for her inspiring presentation, “Leading Beyond the Title: Lessons in Leadership, Service and Legacy.” Her powerful reflections reminded us that true leadership is defined not by position, but by the lives we impact and the legacy we leave behind.

Special thanks also to Past President and Parliamentarian Debbie L. Tucker Smith for her engaging session, “Robert’s Rules of Order Made Simple,” which equipped our leaders with practical knowledge and renewed confidence in conducting effective and efficient meetings.

One of the highlights of the morning was an open forum and engaging discussion, where participants asked thoughtful questions, exchanged ideas, and learned from one another’s experiences. The spirit of collaboration and fellowship truly reflected the heart of Pilot.

To every Officer and Appointee who dedicated your Saturday morning to investing in your leadership journey, thank you. Your commitment to continuous growth and service strengthens not only our Club, but the communities we proudly serve.

As we move forward into 2026–2027, may we continue to lead with purpose, serve with impact, and remain united in service and stronger in purpose.

Here’s to a year of purposeful leadership, meaningful friendship, and impactful service as we continue to Do More. Care More. Be More.
