The Rotary Club of East Nassau was proud to welcome the Bahamas Literacy Association to our meeting on Friday, September 25, as we celebrated Rotary’s Basic Education & Literacy Month. 📚

As a proud partner of the BLA, we were happy to hear an update on their ongoing efforts and the impact being made through literacy initiatives across The Bahamas.

Lakell Haygood-Johnson and Lynette Gibbs-Carey shared more about how investment in literacy can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, along with the BLA’s efforts to connect and engage communities through literacy.

RCEN is proud of our continued partnership with the BLA and looks forward to supporting their important work.

A great September 18th meeting for the Rotary Club of East Nassau!

We kicked things off with Sergeant Franny Decardenas joining us virtually, followed by our guest speaker, Samantha Wilson, Senior Education Officer at the Ministry of Education.

Samantha shared the Ministry’s efforts to expand access to education across our Family Islands through online learning, as well as ways RCEN and individuals can support students through the “Adopt an Island” initiative.

Thank you, Samantha, for an insightful presentation and for highlighting another way we can make a difference through education.
