LEGACY OF LEADERS 2026 | HONOREE SPOTLIGHT

Some people overcome adversity. Others overcome it and spend their lives helping others do the same.

This year, under the theme “The Power of 2nd Chances: From Setback to Comeback,” we proudly honor Glen Albert Dean.

Throughout his life, Glen has faced his share of challenges—financial struggles, career uncertainty, and serious health battles, including surviving not one, but two strokes. Yet through every obstacle, he chose faith over fear and resilience over defeat.

Rather than allowing life’s setbacks to define him, he used them to strengthen his character, deepen his faith, and renew his purpose.

As a former police officer and longtime Supervisor at the Simpson Penn Centre for Boys, Glen dedicated himself to mentoring young men and helping them see beyond their circumstances. Through guidance, encouragement, and genuine care, he has impacted countless lives across generations.

Beyond his service to others, Glen has also left a lasting mark on Bahamian culture as the founder of the acclaimed a ca****la group The Dynamic Features, using music to uplift, inspire, and bring people together.

Known for his warm spirit, infectious humor, and unforgettable “Warning! Warning!” catchphrase, Glen continues to be a source of joy, wisdom, and encouragement to everyone around him.

His story reminds us that setbacks are not the end of the journey—they are often the beginning of a stronger testimony.

From adversity to strength. From challenges to purpose. From setback to comeback.

Join us as we celebrate leaders whose lives inspire faith, perseverance, and the courage to keep moving forward.

LEGACY OF LEADERS 2026 | HONOREE SPOTLIGHT

Sometimes what feels like life’s greatest setback becomes the very thing that saves your life.

This year, under the theme “The Power of 2nd Chances: From Setback to Comeback,” we proudly honor Robbie Smith Sr.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, community leader, and respected marina professional, Robbie has spent decades serving the people of Bimini both professionally and through public service.

Nearly twenty years ago, however, he faced one of the most challenging periods of his life. Amid personal and financial struggles, he found himself facing circumstances that seemed devastating at the time. Yet what appeared to be a setback would ultimately become a turning point.

Shortly afterward, Robbie was diagnosed with life-threatening blood clots in his lungs. Doctors later revealed that had treatment been delayed, the outcome could have been tragic. What seemed like a difficult chapter became a powerful reminder that God’s plans are often greater than our understanding.

Rather than allowing adversity to define him, Robbie continued to pour into his community through mentorship, leadership, youth development, and public service. His life stands as a testament to resilience, faith, and the belief that every challenge carries the possibility of a new beginning.

Today, his story reminds us that second chances are not just about survival—they are about using the gift of another opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.

From adversity to purpose. From challenge to gratitude. From setback to comeback.

Join us as we celebrate leaders whose lives inspire hope, perseverance, and the courage to keep moving forward.

LEGACY OF LEADERS 2026 | HONOREE SPOTLIGHT

Some comebacks are built one decision, one sacrifice, and one new beginning at a time.

This year, under the theme “The Power of 2nd Chances: From Setback to Comeback,” we proudly honor Chef Kevin Culmer.

Chef Culmer’s journey is a powerful reminder that success is rarely a straight line. Throughout his life, he embraced new opportunities, reinvented himself, and never stopped pursuing his purpose. From business management and fashion to restaurant leadership and the culinary arts, each chapter prepared him for the next.

When certain doors failed to open, he refused to give up on his dreams. Instead, he continued learning, growing, and building. His determination eventually led him back home to The Bahamas, where he transformed a lifelong entrepreneurial vision into reality.

In 2015, that vision became Tropical Gyros, a brand that would go on to make history as the first Bahamian restaurant concept to franchise. What started as an idea grew into a thriving business creating opportunities for Bahamians while proving that local brands can compete, grow, and succeed.

Yet beyond the business success, Chef Culmer’s greatest pride is his family, his faith, and his commitment to helping others rise along the way. His life reflects the belief that true success is not just about what you build for yourself, but what you create for others.

His story reminds us that setbacks are often redirections, and sometimes the road to purpose requires the courage to begin again.

From reinvention to entrepreneurship. From obstacles to opportunity. From setback to comeback.

Join us as we celebrate leaders whose journeys inspire resilience, vision, and the courage to keep moving forward.

LEGACY OF LEADERS 2026 | HONOREE SPOTLIGHT

Some men are defined by their setbacks.

Others are defined by what they do after them.

This year, under the theme “The Power of 2nd Chances: From Setback to Comeback,” we proudly honor Austin Knowles Jr. (“Ozzie”).

From humble beginnings in Palmetto Point, Eleuthera, Austin built a successful business and a life centered on faith, family, and community. But in 2002, his world changed dramatically when he faced legal challenges that led to years of uncertainty, imprisonment, and personal hardship.

For many, those circumstances could have been the end of the story.

For Austin, they became the beginning of a transformation.

While incarcerated, he chose faith over bitterness and purpose over despair. He dedicated his time to mentoring fellow inmates, teaching practical skills, studying God’s Word, and rebuilding himself from the inside out.

After returning home, another battle awaited him. In 2024, Austin was diagnosed with late-stage Multiple Myeloma bone cancer. Through chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, and a double bone marrow transplant, he once again faced a fight for his life.

Yet through every challenge, his faith remained unshaken.

Today, Austin’s cancer is in remission, his spirit remains strong, and his testimony continues to inspire everyone who hears it. His life is proof that no setback is too great, no mistake too final, and no obstacle too powerful for God’s grace.

From prison to purpose. From illness to healing. From setback to comeback.

Join us as we celebrate leaders whose stories remind us that redemption, restoration, and second chances are always possible.

Some stories aren’t defined by where they started, but by how far they traveled.

Through faith, perseverance, and a commitment to serving others, this young man grew into a respected spiritual leader whose impact has touched countless lives. His journey is a reminder that setbacks don’t have the final say.

Can you guess the leader?

LEGACY OF LEADERS 2026 | HONOREE SPOTLIGHT

A second chance can change a life. A transformed life can change countless others.

This year, under the theme “The Power of 2nd Chances: From Setback to Comeback,” we proudly honor Pastor Basil Johnson.

Although raised in a Christian home, Pastor Johnson drifted away from his faith during his early years. At just 19 years old, he made a decision that would forever change the course of his life—surrendering his life to Christ and embracing a higher purpose.

What could have become a life of negative influence became a life dedicated to helping others discover hope, healing, and direction. For more than three decades, Pastor Johnson has invested in the lives of young people, families, inmates, patients, and individuals facing some of life’s greatest challenges.

From correctional facilities and rehabilitation centers to schools, hospitals, and churches, his mission has remained the same: helping people see beyond their circumstances and recognize their God-given potential.

Today, as Executive Pastor of Living Waters Kingdom Ministries, a mentor, chaplain, mental health coach, husband, and father, he continues to lead by example—proving that true transformation is not just about changing your own life, but helping others change theirs.

His story reminds us that no matter where life begins, purpose can always be found through faith, commitment, and the courage to choose a different path.

From drifting to direction. From transformation to impact. From setback to comeback.

Join us as we celebrate leaders whose journeys continue to inspire hope, purpose, and lasting change throughout our communities.
