๐Happy World Environment Day ๐ฟ
As a Small Island Developing State, The Bahamas is on the front lines of climate change.
From stronger hurricanes and coastal erosion to coral bleaching and sea level rise, the impacts of a changing climate are already affecting our communities, ecosystems, and economy.
One of the most powerful tools we have in the fight against climate change is nature itself. Mangrove forests help protect our coastlines from storm surge, reduce erosion, store significant amounts of carbon, and provide critical habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife.
Through the Northern Bahamas Mangrove Restoration Project, Friends of the Environment and our partners are working to restore mangrove ecosystems damaged by Hurricane Dorian and strengthen the resilience of our islands for future generations. Every mangrove seedling planted is an investment in healthier coastlines, stronger communities, and a more climate-resilient Bahamas.
This World Environment Day, we invite you to support our restoration efforts and help us continue protecting and rebuilding these vital ecosystems. Whether through volunteering, donating, spreading awareness, or advocating for environmental stewardship, your support makes a difference.
Together, we can restore nature, strengthen our islands, and create a more sustainable future for The Bahamas.
