Abaco became alive with our 21st Annual, Bahamas District of Pilot International Convention, this past weekend, May 1–3, 2026. Over 100 Pilots from throughout the Bahamas gathered here for an unforgettable, memorable, authentic Abaco experience. Attendees represented the 7 clubs under the Bahamas District, three from New Providence, three from Grand Bahama and one in Abaco. We also had international attendance, Lisa Palmquist, our Executive Council Representative (ECR), from Pilot International also spent the weekend with us.

We kicked off the activities on Friday Morning with a presentation from the DAC to Every Child Counts School. Governor Sheila made the presentation on behalf of the Bahamas District.

πŸ’š Friday Afternoon, Pilots on Island went Island Hopping to Green Turtle Cay and Hope-town. What an adventure for our New Providence and Grand Bahama and Pilots.

πŸ’š On Friday evening, all attendees gathered for our : Mix and Mingle under the theme, β€œThe Great Gatsby”
Pilots looked so fancy, dressed in their 50’s attire. Great job Sunset Pilot Club of Grand Bahama, for an enjoyable evening.

πŸ’š Saturday morning, Pilots were up early for our Business Meeting and Awards Presentation. Pilot Club of Abaco is proud to announce that we captured quite a number of awards.

πŸ’š Saturday Evening our very own Governor Elect Barbara Williams was installed as our incoming Governor of The Bahamas District of Pilots. Congratulations, Governor Barbara and your 2026-2027 DAC, Officers and Appointees.

πŸ’š Sunday Morning, Pilots paid tribute to our dearly departed Pilots, Immediate Past International President, Nikki Dawkins and Past Bahamas District of Pilot Governor, Jethlyn Borrows. Both ladies had contributed so much to this organization that we have all grown to love. We will forever be grateful for their contributions to The Bahamas District of Pilot.

Thank you Governor Sheila McPhee, and the 2025-2026 Executives, Officers and Appointees for a great year. You ended strong with a power charged convention.

We have certainly executed International President, Beverly Shean Hager Bloom in Pilot mandate!

On Friday, March 27th, 2026, the Pilot Club of Abaco conducted a meaningful visit to Little Darlings Academy as part of its ongoing community outreach efforts. The purpose of the visit was to deliver a Brain Minders Presentation aimed at educating students about brain safety and the importance of protecting their brains in everyday activities.

During the presentation, students were engaged in age-appropriate discussions and activities that highlighted how the brain functions, why it is vital to keep it safe, and practical ways to prevent injuries. Emphasis was placed on safety habits such as wearing helmets, being cautious during play, and making responsible choices to avoid accidents. The session was both informative and interactive, allowing students to actively participate and better understand the importance of brain protection.

In addition to the student-focused activities, the Pilot Club of Abaco also took the opportunity to show appreciation to the teachers of Little Darlings Academy. A β€œPick-Me-Up” initiative was carried out, where teachers were presented with gift certificates as a token of gratitude for their dedication, hard work, and continued commitment to shaping young minds.

The visit was well received by both students and staff, fostering a positive and educational experience. The Pilot Club of Abaco remains committed to promoting brain safety awareness and supporting educators within the community.
