When Uno first came into our care, his condition was truly heartbreaking. He was missing most of his back paw, painfully malnourished, weak, and hardly able to move.

But thanks to the quick action, love, and dedication of Lisa Albury, Uno was given a second chance at life. Day by day, with proper care, treatment, nourishment, and kindness, he slowly began to heal. Lisa even brought him home with her each night to keep a close eye on him

Over the past few days, Uno has joined us on little outings to soaking up love, fresh air, and discovering what it feels like to simply be a dog.

And now… we are overjoyed to share the wonderful news that Uno has found his forever home and will soon be heading to the US to begin his beautiful new chapter. His new name is Briland!

Stories like Unos are only possible because of the incredible support system behind Briland Animal Rescue — our volunteers, our donors, Dr. Sands, and the tireless compassion of Lisa Albury, who never gives up on the animals who need her most.

Some stories stay with you forever… and Buzz will always be one of them 💙🐾

Buzz arrived at the Shelter at just 3 weeks old, packed into a cardboard box alongside his 6 siblings. They quickly became known as the “Poopsters” — tiny, messy little babies we all completely fell in love with!

Buzz was the very last of the litter to find his forever home, which made yesterday all the more emotional. Thanks to Hailey — who so often helps transport rescue animals — we were connected with her friend Sam, who instantly felt like the perfect match for our sweet boy.

Lisa A and I took Buzz over to Eleuthera to meet his new dad… and yes, there were tears- bittersweet comes to mind!

But more than anything, we are just so happy! Happy that this tiny puppy who arrived with nothing but his siblings in a cardboard box is now heading off to live the beautiful life he deserves :-)

Live your best life, Buzz boy… we will miss you so very much 🤍🐾

Sadly, not all of our rescues have a happy ending- here is a heartfelt letter writen to one we couldn’t save this week but, she finally knew love and kindness…

A letter to Princess

Our dearest sweet Princess,
We never got the chance to meet , and yet we already loved you.
Your life was hard and you didn’t get the loving life you deserved and even worse you were neglected to the worst possible outcome.
A dear angel, Marina , rescued you and the dear Saint Lisa loved you and tried her best to heal you along with the angel Christine to love and care for you.
We already loaded our shopping cart from Chewy with pretty pink girlie things like a lovely pink faux fur doggie bed and lovely toys and many other things. But the Rainbow bridge is where you needed to cross to get to a better place with no pain or suffering.
If there is such a thing as coming back as a dog , please find me because I will be blessed to be your “dog mom”.
Let this moment empower all of us ( humans) to do better.
Rescue, volunteer, donate and support our animals that are neglected. They will change your life forever and make us all better people.

Sometimes rescue takes a village… or an Island!!

Wink was brought to us by a kind local who regularly feeds him. His eye was badly infected, and although we began antibiotics, it quickly deteriorated and was at risk of rupturing. With our regular vet away and the ferry not running, emergency surgery in Nassau became the only safe option.

At 6:15am, our shelter manager Lisa A began what can only be described as a journey worthy of a film script — boat to Eleuthera, taxi across the island, another boat to Spanish Wells — all to meet a speedboat that could take Wink onward to Nassau!

Dr Jade at Palmdale Vets stepped in immediately and performed successful surgery that same day. But the journey wasn’t over. The next morning, storms cancelled the ferry home. Dr Dan from BAARK kindly helped transport him — and when that plan failed due to weather, Bahamas Air generously brought Wink back to us on an empty leg flight!!!

What could have been a simple case became an extraordinary community effort.

Yesterday we removed his stitches. He is healing beautifully and will be ready to return to the area he knows tomorrow — where the kind local who first brought him in has promised to continue feeding and looking out for him.

From infection and emergency surgery… to one bright, cheeky eye.

We called him Wink 🤍

And we are so very grateful to every single person who made his journey possible!!

A huge thank you to the wonderful and for taking such beautiful care of our gorgeous Giget 🤍 She went into heat earlier than expected, and with several rescue boys not yet fixed, it became rather urgent — and they stepped in so kindly and swiftly!!!

She arrived back on Harbour Island this morning, has spent the day snoozing contentedly, and then enjoyed a little social time watching the pickleball action at HI Club. We are feeling very grateful today ✨🐾

Today brave little King travelled safely to Nassau after being hit by a car — he’s now in the best hands and getting the care he needs!

Giget joined him too for a quick spay with the wonderful Dr. Dan and the BAARK! team, helping us keep our island animals healthy and safe :-)

✨ Off to Their Forever Homes! ✨

Friday was a very special day — Goldie and Buck officially left on their way to the US to begin the next chapter of their lives!✈️

From the moment they came into our care, these two gentle souls have brought so much love and joy to the shelter. And now, thanks to an amazing network of rescuers, volunteers and flight angels, they’ll be spending Christmas snuggled up with their new families, safe, adored, and finally home. 🎄🐾❤️

We couldn’t be more excited for them — and more grateful to everyone who helped make this possible.
Here’s to new beginnings, soft beds, and all the love in the world for Goldie and Buck! 🐶✨
