BRAZ-TESOL

BRAZ-TESOL is a non-profit organization for teachers of English. Its an affiliate of TESOL International, a professional association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages based in the U.S. and an associate of IATEFEL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language), based in the UK. TESOL International represents more than 30.000 teachers, researches and ma

terial developers throughout the world. In addition to publishing books, magazines and specialized periodicals, TESOL International promotes annually, the most important conference in the field of ELT. BRAZ-TESOL now ranks 6th world among affiliates, with approximately 2000 members - from Amazonas to Rio Grande do Sul - who work in the public and private sectors. In addition to publishing a quarterly newsletter to which members are encouraged to contribute, the organization promote conferences and meetings which are intended to stimulate professional growth and encourage the development of professional standards of teaching in Brazil. The specific goals of BRAZ-TESOL are to:

• help to promote research in English Language Teaching;

• support the professional development of teachers in different kinds of teaching contexts in Brazil by organizing seminars, conferences and a bi-annual convention;

• encourage studies in ELT and related fields, such as: English Language Teaching, and related fields, such as: Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Second Language acquisition and educational applications of technology;

• establish and maintain links with similar associations around the world, especially TESOL International and IATEFL.
