🐠 Our President and Co-Founder, Stacey Alvarez de la Campa, has recently embarked on a fellowship with the São Paulo Research Foundation, at the São Paulo Institute of Advanced Science in Ocean Literacy. Stacey will be exploring topics such as:

✅ The origin, evolution and meaning of Oceanic Literacy and the
current panorama of research in the field;
✅ The relationship between Ocean Literacy and Ocean Science;
✅ How ocean literacy inspires adaptation and creativity in the face of
climate change;
✅ The power of education as a driver of ocean literacy;
✅ The importance of intangible cultural heritage and the deep oceanic identities of many communities, including Indigenous coastal peoples; and
✅ Strategies to promote justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in ocean science by removing barriers to participation and challenging existing power asymmetries.

🌟 We will be hosting a series of webinars to share the learnings and topics explored, so watch this space!

🎉We are happy and honored to share that our Co-Founder, Stacey Alvarez de la Campa, has been appointed as the Co-Lead of the Human Rights Working Group of the Caribbean Climate Justice Alliance! Thanks so much to Caribbean Natural Resources Institute for entrusting me with this role.

Stacey and her co-lead, Christine Samwaroo of The Breadfruit Collective
are committed to making tangible, positive changes in the realm of human rights in the Caribbean.
