Yearbook season is here! 📸⁠

As our students get their yearbook photos taken this week, we took a look back at our archives and found these behind-the-scenes photos from 1992.⁠
⁠
The students pictured were members of Mr. Gann’s Photojournalism Club, and every photo in that year’s yearbook was taken, developed, and printed by students themselves. ⁠
⁠
More than 30 years later, their work still gives us a glimpse into everyday life at Graded in 1992—and a reminder that students have long been the ones documenting the moments that make up a school year.⁠

Taking it back to the ’80s!

The 1980s are having a moment, so we went looking through the Graded archives—and found the perfect throwback: our 1980 yearbook.

These photos capture a little slice of Graded life more than 45 years ago, from familiar campus spaces and school activities to the students and teachers who made up the community at the time.

A lot can change in 45 years, but some memories are worth bringing back.

Senior hoodies may change from class to class, but some things stay the same. ⁠

As the Class of 2027 celebrates one of Graded’s favorite senior traditions, we’re looking back at the Class of 2016 and their hoodies from almost 10 years ago.⁠

Their class slogan? GO B16 OR GO HOME 🦅⁠
⁠
And on the back, each senior chose a name or nickname to make their hoodie their own—a little snapshot of the personalities and memories that made the Class of 2016 unique.⁠

It’s always special to see Graded alumni return to campus to inspire the next generation. ⁠

Gabriel Gomes ’25, Thayná Araujo ’25, and Luiza Garcia ’24—former Graded Scholar Program students now studying in the United States—recently returned to connect with current Scholars.⁠
⁠
They shared their journeys at Graded, the steps they took during high school, and their experiences navigating the college application and scholarship process. Current Scholars asked about their paths, challenges, and advice, with one central question in mind: How do I get there?⁠
⁠
Their visits were a meaningful reminder of where the Graded Scholar journey can lead.

There’s something special about coming home to Graded! ⁠

Over the past few weeks, we've had the joy of welcoming alumni and former students back to campus, each with their own stories to share.⁠
⁠
Photo 1: Johanna Belda '01 returned to campus and visited the Orchestra and Choir room, which now proudly bears her name.⁠
⁠
Photo 2: Diego Nacamuli '05 attended Graded from PK3 through grade 12. He visited with his wife, who was excited to finally see the campus after years of hearing his stories. ⁠
⁠
Photo 3: Former student Lynlee Beckett visited campus with her family. Lynlee attended Graded from kindergarten through grade 6 (1983–1989).⁠

Photo 4: Alexandre Ray Johnson '07 returned to Graded with his wife. Alexandre’s father, Craig Johnson, served as High School Principal; his mother, Lisa Johnson, taught High School Health; and his brothers graduated from the Classes of 2001 and 2005. Alexandre went on to found UnconstrainED, an AI training company for schools, and now lives in Colorado, USA. Reflecting on his visit, he shared that coming back felt like "going back in time while also being in a parallel universe—everything feels very familiar and different at the same time."⁠
