A Fundação Asas foi constituída em 2002 para construir e gerenciar um centro de educação complementar no Município de São Miguel do Fidalgo, Piauí. “Dar asas” às crianças mais necessitadas é um dos principais objetivos da Fundação. O centro acolhe diariamente cinquenta crianças com reforço escolar, aulas de música, atividades esportivas e criativas. Foi construída uma biblioteca para uso pelos nos
sos alunos. Ela foi inaugurada em 2008 e conta com um acervo inicial de dois mil livros. Em 2011 abrimos o centro São Rafael, em qual cerca de 20 pessoas com deficiência são atendidas com terapias e educação especial. O projeto serve para tirar da quase total exclusão social e educacional os cidadãos com deficiência, tanto física como mental. The Fundação Asas was established in 2002 to build and manage a centre for educational support in the Municipality of São Miguel do Fidalgo in Piauí; a small town in the middle of North Eastern Brazil. “Asas” means wings in Portuguese, and so in “giving wings” to the neediest children in the town we are completing our main aim at the Fundação. The centre supports 50 students every day in multiple activities; support in school subjects, music classes, physical education and the visual arts. Posteriorly we constructed a library for the use of our students. The library was inaugurated in 2008 and holds a collection of around 2,000 books. In 2011, we opened the São Rafael centre, a centre which supports around 20 people with a handicap. In this centre we give special attention and various forms of therapy to our users. The project serves as a way to free our physically or mentally disabled citizens from social and educational exclusion.
