For a long time, social impact has been treated as a set of isolated actions, dependent on short-term projects, unstable resources and fragmented solutions. This model generates effort, but rarely builds sustainability or real capacity for scale.
The impact holding model emerges as a more mature response to this challenge. Instead of operating in a dispersed way, it organizes initiatives, businesses and programs under a shared strategy, with long-term vision, integrated efforts and clear purpose.
At Favela Inc., this model allows us to structure solutions that are born in the territory and develop in a coordinated way. Projects stop competing for resources and begin sharing intelligence, data, partnerships and opportunities, strengthening the ecosystem as a whole.

Favela Inc. is now part of S.E.V.A Travelers, an international platform that connects expert volunteers with social projects.
But here, we are not talking about voluntourism. We are talking about experteering: qualified volunteers share their knowledge while learning from the unique context of the favelas.
This means that every collaboration goes beyond delivering immediate results. It leaves skills behind, strengthens local leaders, and builds solid foundations for lasting impact.
We believe the future is built when knowledge meets. Now, with S.E.V.A, this exchange becomes global.

A resident of Vidigal since 2012, Adam shares his journey and the vision that guides Favela Inc.’s work, focused on social impact, income generation, and strengthening local initiatives.
The interview reinforces our commitment to development models that start from the territory, value culture and entrepreneurship, and recognize the people who build the favelas every day.
O "Brota no Brota" foi um encontro que reforça o papel da Favela Inc. como ponte entre comunidade, cultura e empreendedorismo, conectando iniciativas do território a parceiros que acreditam na construção de impacto a partir da favela.
Realizado no espaço do Brota ( ), o evento reuniu cerca de 100 pessoas e contou com mais de 6 horas de programação. A agenda incluiu atrações artísticas locais, roda de capoeira, batalha de passinho, apresentações musicais, palestras conduzidas por lideranças locais e diretores de projetos da Favela Inc., além do ao vivo, fortalecendo a comunicação comunitária e as narrativas da favela.
Mais do que uma ação cultural, o evento ampliou redes, estimulou a economia local e promoveu encontros entre pessoas que dificilmente se cruzariam em outros contextos.

Recebemos no Vidigal o Keith Sproule, Diretor Executivo da Abercrombie & Kent Philanthropy ( ), para uma visita ao trabalho desenvolvido pela Favela Inc. Nossa parceria com a Abercrombie & Kent já soma mais de sete anos, ampliando oportunidades para projetos liderados por moradores.
Durante a , vivenciamos trocas potentes e identificamos caminhos para fortalecer a captação de doações e o impacto social. Foi a primeira visita presencial do Keith ao território, com conexões que passaram pela música, pelas crianças, pelo meio ambiente e pelo cotidiano da favela.
A programação incluiu apresentações do Vidiga na Social ( ) e visitas ao Recicla Comunidade e ao Brota Vidigal ( ), iniciativas que mostram como inovação, sustentabilidade e geração de renda nascem dentro da favela.

We have examples that showcase this work in practice: Brota Vidigal, the first coworking space in a favela, empowers entrepreneurs, artisans, and local artists; the Mixtura cocktail-making course, in partnership with Grupo Trigo and Gurumê, trains new professionals; and partnerships with organizations such as Instituto da Criança, Bates Foundation, and Orgânico Solidário promote education, sports, and sustainability.

Ele estrutura desigualdades históricas que afetam milhões de pessoas todos os dias. No Brasil, mais de 16 milhões vivem em favelas e comunidades urbanas, o que representa 8,1% da população, e 72,9% desses moradores se declaram negros.
Esses números não são apenas estatísticas. São vidas, histórias e talentos que transformam territórios e sustentam o país, muitas vezes sem reconhecimento ou apoio do sistema.
O Dia da Consciência Negra nos lembra que igualdade não se pede, se garante. Na Favela Inc, fortalecemos iniciativas e negócios que promovem impacto social real, ampliam o protagonismo negro e mostram que respeito e justiça não são concessões, são direitos.
Refletir sobre a realidade é urgente, mas agir é urgente. Combater o racismo é responsabilidade de todos e começa com atitudes concretas, não com silêncio ou indiferença.

Empreender nas favelas é muito mais do que abrir um negócio. É resistir, criar estratégias para existir e reinventar o próprio futuro em meio à falta de oportunidades.
Durante muito tempo, o empreendedor da favela foi visto apenas como alguém que “se vira”, como se o ato de empreender fosse apenas uma resposta à necessidade imediata. Mas quem vive esse cotidiano sabe que há muito mais por trás.
Há potência, visão e uma sabedoria que nasce da experiência de transformar pouco em muito.
Quando o acesso à formação, à mentoria e às redes de apoio chega, essa força deixa de ser sobrevivência e passa a ser sustentabilidade. É quando o talento se estrutura, o conhecimento se multiplica e o trabalho passa a gerar dignidade, não só para quem empreende, mas para todo o território.
A favela sempre empreendeu.
O que muda é o reconhecimento. Quando o saber das quebradas é validado, o futuro deixa de ser promessa e se torna projeto coletivo.

Favela Inc. is a not for profit organization that provides favela-based entrepreneurs, non-profits and social projects with high-level capacity building in the areas of business management, financial education, digital marketing and personal development.
We seek to fortify favela communities and their citizens in the long-term, by providing them with access to knowledge, networks, infrastrucutre, and partners that will allow them to be the protagonists of the socioeconomic development of their community. We help remove the inherent limitations caused by widespread economic exclusion and institutional racism by giving the power of economic autonomy and sustainability back to favela.
These communities have been stereotyped for ages and still to this day live under the shadow of these preconceptions. But how many people have actually lived in a favela, immersed themselves into the culture and became friends with locals in order to give an opinion based on real facts and emotions? We did, and we can safely say that it has been the most inspiring journey of our lives. The people have an immense desire to pursue their passions and to contribute to the well being of the community, yet live quite isolated from the “more developed” areas due to the poorly documented media that shapes a negative image about them. That type of media that we all know that likes to pick only on the downsides of something because they believe it makes it more appealing. Sadly, consciously or not, most people listen to these informations and take them as they are, without going further into the matter and look for authentic information, or, to go one step further, going to experience the matter themselves.

Favela Inc proposes something different. Instead of marginalizing these communities, we want to bring them forward. We want to empower them to pursue their passions and increase their chances of developing their community right from the middle of it. We aim to connect favela-based entrepreneurs with the set of resources and knowledge that they need in order to strive in what they do. These vibrant and passionate communities have the thirst to develop some of the most creative and ethical ideas and we are here to support them.
Mission: To cultivate and incubate sustainable favela-based impact ecosystems that facilitate innovation and access to education, infrastructure and investment for favela-centric startups, non-profits, and institutions.
Vision: To be the largest network in Brazil of social innovation hubs based in low-income communities with at least 75% of all incubated organizations still in existence and self-sustainable.
