Sustainable Gastronomy Day 2026 🌱

Today, on Sustainable Gastronomy Day, we celebrate the power of food to nourish not only people, but also communities, cultures, and the planet.

Across the Social Gastronomy Movement, members are demonstrating that food can be a tool for connection, inclusion, education, and positive change. From reducing food waste and supporting local producers to creating spaces where everyone has a seat at the table, sustainable gastronomy is about building food systems that benefit people and the planet.

As we mark this day, we'd love to hear from you: What does sustainable gastronomy mean to you? 🌱

Day 2 of the SGM Nordic Learning Journey ✨

Day two was a study visit across Copenhagen, exploring different models shaping how food and community connect in practice.

At , we saw urban farming used more for engagement than production, creating space for people in the city to reconnect with food through volunteer days, school programmes and hands-on learning.

focuses on children, using gardens and cooking to shape how they understand food, health and the environment early on.

Send Flere Krydderier, a social enterprise by .works, brings in the diversity angle, using food to create opportunities for inclusion, employment and entrepreneurship.

At , we saw how food education can happen at scale, from cooking classes to professional training that influences everyday eating habits.

And at , the social side of food really stood out, shared meals that bring people together and turn strangers into community.

Across all the visits, one thing kept coming up, food is not just what we eat, it is a way to build community, inclusion, education and real change
