Celebrating Rapa Nui elder and leader, Isabel Pakarati Tepano.

A strong advocate for the protection of her territory, culture, and people’s identity, Isabel devoted her life to keeping ancestral wisdom alive.

She took part in the last Wayfinders gathering in Mongolia, where she shared so much light, joy, and wisdom with us.

In the video above she teaches the traditional practice of Kai Kai, the ‘string game’, to Ohinea and Vaitiare Riroroco in preparation for a performance as part of the annual Tāpati Rapa Nui Festival.

Her presence, her words, and her spirit will remain with us.

At the 25th session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, Wayfinders Circle convened a packed audience for a dialogue focused on how ancestral knowledge, spirituality, and lived experience guide communities through conflict and crisis.

Indigenous members representing the Blackfoot Confederacy, Heiltsuk Nation, the Sungai Utik Community (Indonesia), and Sámi lands (Sweden) shared reflections grounded in their territories and responsibilities to future generations.

Thankful for everyone who came to listen, share, and participate.
