A morning to learn, exchange ideas, and dive deeper into petroleum geochemistry.
Short Course 1: Geology and Geochemistry Applied to Petroleum Systems
Instructor: Dr. Luiz Antonio Freitas Trindade
This course is intended for non-geologists and/or geologists in training. Its objective is to provide participants with a general overview of geological terms and concepts that support the understanding of the elements and processes involved in petroleum systems, culminating in the application of organic geochemistry to their interpretation.
The course is divided into four modules. The first module covers basic geology, including concepts of historical geology, plate tectonics, mineral and rock formation, sedimentology, and stratigraphy. The second module addresses the origin and types of organic matter, the chemical analyses used to study it, and the interpretation of the resulting data. The third module presents the origin of biomarkers, as well as their classification and nomenclature. The fourth module focuses on the application of biomarkers to the study of petroleum systems.
Short Course 2: Fundamentals and Applications of Organic Geochemistry Integrated with Inorganic Geochemistry
Instructors: Dr. Eliane Soares de Souza and Dr. Luiza Rodrigues Rocha
This course will provide an integrated overview of organic and inorganic geochemistry, exploring how orga
