We "dipped our toes" sailing into the Amazon Basin for a week -- just 50 miles into the Rio Pará. Here are some images from Soure, a river-town in Ilha Marajó, near the capital of Belém.
1- The horse is swimming /being guided across the river
2- Mural of one of the biggest freshwater fish in the world, the Pirarucu/Arapaima, up to 200 kg! In Amazonian folklore, it’s often portrayed as a powerful or even mythical creature. The cabocla/indigenous woman might represent a river guardian
3- Mural showing river life at the ice cream shop -- our mandatory stop in the equatorial heat
4- Lunch aboard Nesi with Kaitlyn (work trade), Meggane (teacher), and Sabby
5- Riding bikes, seeing the water buffalo, which mysteriously arrived in the Ilha Marajo in the 19th century
6- Ceramic craftsmanship is famous here
7- Hanging ceramics from the wall
8- Dinghy tour of the river tributaries
9- Sunset with the River Boat at the dock

Completing our 8 month Green Coco tour of Brazil in Belem, up the huge Rio Para. It’s been amazing to explore our home country (where Capt K was born) after all these years!

2 oceans, 2 rigs. It’s easy to forget what is mission-critical; what is ACTUALLY important when being swept by Life’s busy pace. “If you’re not ready to ensure your rigging is perfect, you’re not ready to cross an ocean”. Ian told me thjs 12 years when we readied our first trimaran Aldebaran to cross the Pacific. Now it was time to cross the Atlantic on our catamaran Nesi.
