Long before the age of social media and instant communication, the Society played an important role in connecting Americans living in Brazil, supporting diplomatic and cultural ties, and helping strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

More than a century later, that spirit of connection, community, and international friendship continues to thrive in Rio de Janeiro. 🌎✨

From our founding in 1917 to the traditions, events, and people that have shaped the organization over the years, this new series is a fun way to learn more about the Society and its lasting impact in Rio de Janeiro.

What an inspiring evening! ✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for last night’s Speaker Series featuring Sergio da Costa e Silva, who has led the renowned Música no Museu project for nearly 30 years—bringing free musical events to cultural spaces across Rio and around the world. 🌍🎶

Sergio shared insights into the project’s growth, including the Rio Harp Festival and the Rio Winds Festival. We also heard from oboist, composer, and American Society member Harold Emert, who has performed with Música no Museu and leads the Rio Winds Festival.

A special musical touch by Maestro Angelo Budega from the Orquestra de Cavaquinhos de Cabo Frio made the evening even more memorable 🎼

Música no Museu continues to offer multiple FREE concerts each month—including six more this month alone! We encourage everyone to support this incredible cultural initiative.

An unforgettable afternoon with members of the society 🌿✨

We began with a private tour of the stunning artwork at the Santa Teresa Hotel, followed by an intimate demonstration on how these beautiful paintings come to life. The experience continued with a guided NLP session, bringing a deeper sense of connection and well-being.

We wrapped up the day poolside at sunset — the perfect ending to a truly inspiring blend of art, mindfulness, and community. 🎨🌅
