Adoption Policy
ADOPTION THROUGH PPAR:
We try to keep it as simple as possible. Each adoptable pet listed on petfinder has a bio with info on the pet as well as the specifics of the home we are looking for. We strive to send out healthy animals and make the best match for the pet and family. Many of our pets come from high-kill shelters and many have never lived inside. We expect that any adopter
is willing to work on the “basics” such as housebreaking, leash and crate training as well as general commands. We recommend that any first time dog owner meet with our trainer soon after adoption to get off on the right track. Many pups come in without mom and dad so usually we have no idea of breed or potential adult weight. We make a guess on the breed mix as we have to post a breed on this site to be able to list our pets. This is a 100% guess! All of our animals will be spayed/neutered, have age appropriate vaccines and are microchipped. Adopters leave with a medical summary of what we have done while in rescue and what the adopter will need to do post adoption. We go over the medical summary with the adopter at adoption. We provide a new collar and leash and help adopters shop if needed. We welcome out of state adopters but please keep in mind that you would need to come to Charleston, SC to meet and adopt our pets. We do not ship/transport our animals. Adoption fees vary by animal and are listed in each individual posting. ADOPTION APPLICATION
If you are interested in meeting one of our animals listed on petfinder, please submit an application which can be found at palmettopaws.petfinder.com. Please complete the application in full as incomplete applications are not considered. We meet privately with approved adopters. We expect that at the meet, if all parties agree that we have a good match, then the adoption takes place at that time. As we usually receive multiple applications per adoptable pet we may only reply via email to the selected applicant. The goal is always the perfect match for the dog and for the adoptive family!
