Every piece of teak has a story that begins long before it reaches its final application.
As teak trees grow, they naturally capture carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere through photosynthesis, storing that carbon within their wood fibers. When responsibly harvested and transformed into long-lasting products such as decking, flooring, furniture and marine applications, much of this biogenic carbon can remain stored throughout the product’s service life.
This means that every durable teak product can keep carbon stored in the wood, and out of the atmosphere, for longer. Choosing renewable, certified teak is therefore a tangible expression of conscious consumption: one that combines responsible sourcing, durability and long-term carbon storage.
When responsibly sourced teak replaces materials that may have a higher carbon footprint, such as concrete, aluminum or synthetic alternatives, it can help reduce the embodied carbon associated with a project while continuing to store biogenic carbon throughout its useful life.
Responsibly managed planted forests can play an important role in the transition toward a lower-carbon economy. By maintaining productive forests over successive rotations and responsibly harvesting mature trees, TRC supports a renewable flow of wood products that can retain biogenic carbon throughout their service life.
At TRC, responsible forestry, traceability and certified production are integrated across the entire value chain, from planted forests to finished teak products.
