Gratidão pelo pensador que norteou/ norteia minha clínica. Em linguagem simples, que todos podem ler, com prática difícil, acessível para quem se esforça para “ser mais”, estar vivo sem ser apenas sobrevivente…
🎂 Happy 129th Birthday to Donald Winnicott, born on this day in 1896!
Donald Woods Winnicott (1896–1971) was a British pediatrician and psychoanalyst whose work on early childhood development and the parent-infant relationship profoundly shaped psychoanalytic theory. Trained as a doctor at Cambridge and the University of London, he initially worked as a pediatrician before training in psychoanalysis under Melanie Klein.
Winnicott introduced key concepts that emphasized the importance of early relational experiences, including the “good enough mother,” the “transitional object,” and the “true and false self.” His clinical work and writings explored how a nurturing and attuned caregiving environment supports a child’s emotional development, while disruptions in this early bond could contribute to psychological difficulties.
Beyond his theoretical contributions, Winnicott was an engaging public intellectual who brought psychoanalytic ideas into broader discussions on parenting, education, and society. His radio broadcasts on child development, aired on the BBC between the 1940s and 1960s, made his ideas widely accessible to parents and caregivers. His influence continues to shape contemporary psychoanalysis, attachment theory, and developmental psychology, particularly in understanding the significance of early relationships in shaping emotional well-being.
