Native forest (synantropic) pulmonate snail BULIMULIDAE "Bulimulus cf. krebsianus Pilsbry, 1897" ...................

Specific locality: ?, Maracaibo city (~ 10°38′00″N & 71°38′00″W, see Maps), Zulia State, Venezuela, Southeastern Caribbean region
Date: August 15 2026
Obs.: Specimen found in urban area (no further informations)
Obs. II: ... Not-official reports indicate still the presence within Venezuelan territory of the phenologically similar South American snail "Bulimulus bonariensis Rafinesque, 1833" --a member of the BULIMULIDAE family native to the Southern hemisphere of the Continent (... originally to Northeastern Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and of the Brazilian Southern Extreme --Rio Grande do Sul/ RS and Santa Catarina/ SC). This gastropod is a confirmed "non-autoctonous species" in the Southeastern Brazil region (North to Espirito Santo State/ ES, by example), with additional records in Northern South American countries (Ecuador and Colombia, in addition to Venezuela), Central America (Panama, Nicaragua), as well as in Mexico and the United States/ USA, in the Nearctic region

/.. Among the thirty-two (32) species of exotic shell-bearing terrestrial gastropods (snails) currently recorded in Brazil's vast territory (Machado et al. 2026: Table S1), the following three (3) in particular stand out due to the extensive spatial coverage they have achieved / ...

A -- Giant african snail ACHATINIDAE "Lissachatina fulica (Bowdich, 1822)",
- Detection (year): 1988 (Agudo-Padrón, V***o & Saalfeld, 2013: 90), via "Curitiba city", Paraná State/ PR, by means of the “diplomatic pouch” of an official from the Paraná State Secretariat of Agriculture during his trip to Indonesia, with two (2) specimens (breeding stock) having been clandestinely landed in Brazil and handed over to the then-President of HELIPAR—the Paraná Snail Breeders' Association, "Ferenc Polena".
- Category: Invasive (Iv) - Machado et al. (2026: 4)*
- Scatter Vector: Historical commercial operations aiming shellfish farming. Today, additional handling, transport & trade of agricultural and gardening products
- Brazilian State coberture: ... All & DF (todos)
- Obs.: Confirmed presence in other Neotropical neighboring & general South American countries

B -- Asian tramp snail or Little garden snail CAMAENIDAE "Bradybaena similaris (Férussac, 1822),
- Detection (year): 1835 (Darrigran et al. 2019: 5), marking the first report of a non-native mollusc introduced into the country
- Category: Invasive (Iv) - Machado et al. (2026: 4)*
- Brazilian State coberture: ... Confirmed in twenty (20) states and DF, including Pará-PA, Rondônia-RO & Pernambuco-PE ... with the remaining 8 states awaiting confirmation: AC, AM, AP, RR, TO, SE, CE & AL
- Scatter Vector: Handling, transport & trade of agricultural and gardening products
- Obs.: Confirmed presence in other Neotropical neighboring & general South American countries

C -- Indian horntail snail ARIOPHANTIDAE "Tanychlamys indica (Godwin-Austen, 1883)",
- Detection (year): 2017 (Agudo-Padrón & Luz 2017) -- additionally, see Agudo-Padrón (2025, 2026 a: 4, 2026 b: 9-10, 2026 c: 11-Fig. 1d)
- Category: Established (Et) - Machado et al. (2026: 4)**
- Brazilian State coberture: ... Confirmed in twenty-three (23) states and DF ... with the remaining 3 states awaiting confirmation: Roraima - RR, Piaui - PI & Sergipe - SE. Spreading rapidly, it is today the second (2nd) species of exotic snail with the largest known spatial coverage in Brazil
- Scatter Vector: Handling, transport & trade of agricultural and gardening products
- Obs.: Offering a significant point of differentiation to date -- Species "Restricted" only to the territory of Brazil in South America (... "non-confirmed presence" in other Neotropical countries of the continent)
/
-------------
*An established non-native species that causes at least one ecological, socioeconomic, or health-related impact (Machado et al. 2026: 4).
**A non-native species that completes its life cycle in the natural environment and shows signs of population growth but without apparent impacts (Machado et al. 2026: 4).

... AM PROJECT --- ACERCA DOS FATORES QUE AFETAM A DISTRIBUIÇÃO DE MOLUSCOS/ CARACÓIS TERRESTRES NO AMBIENTE BRASILEIRO DE MATA ATLÂNTICA ~/~ ON THE FACTORS WHO AFFECTING THE DISTRIBUTION OF TERRESTRIAL MOLLUSCS/ SNAILS IN THE BRAZILIAN ATLANTIC FOREST ENVIRONMENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

/

According NUNES & SANTOS (2012) (sic): "... The distribution and abundance of terrestrial molluscs are affected by environmental factors, but data are lacking for Brazilian land snails. The environmental factors associated were: atmospheric temperature, soil temperature, litter depth, and relative air humidity. Distinct luminosity and canopy closure conditions were related to the composition of the land-snail community ...". !).
