ACER Brasil está realizando um programa chamado “Família Guardiã” para apoiar a colocação de crianças, que foram removidas de suas famílias, sob a guarda da sua família extensa, como uma alternativa à longa permanência em abrigos. overno local a apoiar as famílias guardiãs para proteger os direitos das crianças de acordo com a constituição brasileira. O trabalho em si é executado por um educador(a) social que faz acompanhamento individual na casa de cada guardiã e realiza grupos sócio educativos com as guardiãs mensalmente, onde são abordados temas importantes a elas. Além disso, trimestralmente são realizados passeios com todos os membros familiares no projeto com finalidade de oferecer um lazer e convivência de forma eficaz e reduzir qualquer estigma entre as crianças acolhidas nas famílias e outros familiares. ACER também oferece uma ajuda inicial visando auxiliar a família para custear alguns dos gastos inicias para dar boas vindas á criança e depois uma pequena ajuda mensal. ACER Brasil is running a programme called “Family Guardian” to support the placement of children, removed from their families, with guardians from their extended families, as an alternative to being placed in shelters. Currently Family Guardian is working in communities in Diadema and Santo Andre, to the south of São Paolo, Brazil. The objective of the programme is to assist local government in enabling guardians to protect children´s rights, as outlined in the Brazilian Constitution. The work is carried out by a social educator who makes individual visits to guardians´ homes and runs educational group sessions each month with the guardians, addressing topics important to them. In addition, the social educator organises around four outings per year with the whole family, intended as a chance for the family to enjoy a fun recreational activity but also to ease any stigma between the children and other family relatives. ACER also offers lump sum initial grant to help cover the cost of receiving a new child into the family and then a small monthly stipend.
