It is part of the CIFAL Global Network of training centres affiliated to the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Curitiba (CIFAL Curitiba) was created in 2003 as a collaboration between the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Federation of Industries of the State of Parana (FIE
P) with the objective of providing training opportunities to government officials and civil society leaders from Latin America. CIFAL Curitiba offers training activities on urban mobility and road safety, anticorruption, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) education and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level. Through its training activities, the Centre facilitates multi-stakeholder collaboration and best practices exchange. FIEP was selected by UNITAR to host the CIFAL Curitiba due to its leadership in promoting best practice sharing and contributions to developing innovative solutions to address urban issues. About UNITAR & the CIFAL Global Network
CIFAL Global Network is the network of training centers affiliated with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). It is composed of 16 centers dedicated to strengthening the capacities of governmental authorities and leaders of civil society to promote sustainable development. El Centro Internacional de Formación de Autoridades y Líderes en Curitiba (CIFAL Curitiba) fue creado en el 2003 como una colaboración entre el Instituto de las Naciones Unidas para la Formación Profesional e Investigaciones (UNITAR) y la Federación de Industrias del Estado de Paraná (FIEP), con el objetivo de brindar oportunidades de capacitación a funcionarios públicos y líderes de la sociedad civil de América Latina. CIFAL Curitiba ofrece capacitación en movilidad urbana y seguridad vial, anticorrupción, Educación STEAM (Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería, Artes, Matemáticas – por sus siglas en ingles), e implementación de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) a nivel local. A través de sus actividades de formación también contribuye a facilitar la colaboración y el intercambio de buenas prácticas. La FIEP fue seleccionada por UNITAR para ser anfitrión del Centro CIFAL Curitiba debido a su liderazgo en la promoción del intercambio de buenas practicas y su contribución al desarrollo de soluciones innovadoras para abordar temas urbanos.
