The ICCC, Cunha Institute of Ceramics is a cultural institution dedicated to the advancement of studio ceramics. Cunha is a mountain town in Brazil (Sao Paulo state) where in 1975 a group of young potters started a Noborigama studio. It has since then, become a ceramics town with aprox. 20 studios. The ICCC was created by some of its resident ceramicists at the beginning of 2009. Since then, with
the backup of State Government and Cunha Town Hall, it has started a ceramics school in May 2010, now giving a one year course to a group of 25 highschool students. During the first 2 weeks of August 2010 teachers and students built at the school’s premises the 6th Cunha’s Noborigama kiln. The agenda of the ICCC includes a basic and advanced educational program in studio ceramics as well as the creation of a ceramics museum, a ceramics park, a research unit and an exchange program, national and international, including workshops by outside professionals, residencies and holding ceramics events of various kinds. The Institute welcomes partnerships with other schools, associations and ceramics institutions in joint projects. Cunha has a mild climate with sunny winters and a rich natural environment of forests and waterfalls. contact [email protected]
