This week in Santa Marta, Colombia, we marched alongside Indigenous leaders and Amazon communities at a historic gathering; the first global conference focused on transitioning away from fossil fuels .

For the communities we walked with, this isn’t an abstract policy debate. It’s about the survival of territories, cultures, and ways of life that have stewarded these ecosystems for centuries.

Their call is simple: a transition that is fast, fair, and funded, and that keeps Indigenous communities at the centre of every decision made in their name.

We were honoured to bear witness. And we remain committed to standing alongside the people whose relationship with the natural world is one of the most powerful forces for good on the planet.

A global conference on ending fossil fuels is underway in Santa Marta, Colombia, bringing together governments, scientists, civil society, and Indigenous leaders to focus on one question: how we move away from coal, oil, and gas.

At the centre is the Fossil Fuel Treaty, calling for an end to expansion and a just global phase-out. Indigenous leaders, including the Arhuaco, are shaping the conversation and reminding us that protecting land is central to protecting the planet.

Alongside this, the Renewable Freedom campaign highlights a clear reality: renewable energy brings stability, while fossil fuel dependence drives risk. Yet over $1 trillion is still spent each year subsidising fossil fuels.

The science is clear. The window to act is closing.

End new fossil fuel projects. Invest in renewable energy. Support a just transition for all.

Earth Day 2026. Seven of the nine planetary boundaries have been breached. The people who have protected these boundaries for millennia are still fighting - at Free Land Camp, in Brasília, and all around the world.

At the centre of this image is - Indigenous leader of the Xakriabá people, Brazil’s first Indigenous federal deputy from Minas Gerais, and one of the most powerful voices on Earth for Indigenous rights and our living planet.

As Célia says: “Indigenous Lands are living barriers against climate collapse.” We stand with her and with every people defending their territory. 🌿

A historic moment for Brazil’s Indigenous peoples 🌿

Social scientist was inaugurated as the new president of - the National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples - at the closing plenary of Acampamento Terra Livre 2026. The ceremony brought together Indigenous leaders from across Brazil alongside Minister of Indigenous Peoples , federal deputy and activist .xakriaba, Minister of Environment , former Minister and the iconic Raoni Metuktire.

Lucia’s first acts in office included creating new Technical Groups for the identification and demarcation of indigenous lands, a direct response to the demands raised at ATL all week.

Togetherband was proud to be there, alongside thousands of people mobilising for land rights, territorial protection, and the future of Brazil’s native peoples.

We Are All Forests. And forests need defenders.

Um momento histórico para os povos indígenas do Brasil 🌿

A cientista social Lucia Alberta Baré tomou posse como nova presidente da FUNAI - Fundação Nacional dos Povos Indígenas - na plenária de encerramento do Acampamento Terra Livre 2026. A cerimônia reuniu lideranças indígenas de todo o Brasil, representantes da APIB, o Ministro dos Povos Indígenas Eloy Terena, a deputada federal e ativista Célia Xakriabá, a Ministra do Meio Ambiente Marina Silva, a ex-ministra Sônia Guajajara e o histórico líder Raoni Metuktire.

Os primeiros atos de Lucia à frente da FUNAI incluíram a criação de novos Grupos Técnicos para identificação e demarcação de terras indígenas - uma resposta direta às demandas levantadas durante toda a semana no ATL.

A Togetherband teve o orgulho de estar ao lado de milhares de pessoas mobilizadas pelos direitos territoriais e pelo futuro dos povos originários do Brasil.

Somos Todas Florestas. E as florestas precisam de defensores.

Acampamento Terra Livre (ATL) 2026 is underway in Brazil, bringing together thousands of Indigenous leaders to defend land rights, biodiversity, and the future of our planet. Now in its 22nd year, ATL is the country’s largest Indigenous mobilisation and a key moment for political action and advocacy.

Indigenous peoples protect around 80% of global biodiversity, yet their lands remain under increasing threat from extraction, industrial agriculture, and large-scale development.

The message is clear: land rights are climate action.

O Acampamento Terra Livre (ATL) 2026 está em andamento no Brasil, reunindo milhares de líderes indígenas para defender os direitos à terra, a biodiversidade e o futuro do nosso planeta. Em sua 22ª edição, o ATL é a maior mobilização indígena do país e um momento crucial para a ação política e o ativismo.

Os povos indígenas protegem cerca de 80% da biodiversidade global, mas suas terras continuam sob crescente ameaça da extração de recursos naturais, da agricultura industrial e do desenvolvimento em larga escala.
