Sustaining All Life (SAL) and United to End Racism (UER) believe the environmental crisis cannot be resolved without ending racism, genocide toward Indigenous peoples, classism, sexism, and other oppressions. Sustaining All Life, a project of the Re-Evaluation Counseling Community*, offers tools of mutual support, engaged listening, and a process that frees people from the effects of the hurts and

oppression. We can also use these tools to remove many of the difficulties of working together. This personal work heals the emotional damage and, as a result, people are able to think more clearly about the environmental crisis, build and strengthen alliances, and fully enjoy working together to set the world right. This healing work also builds courage and stamina, and the confidence that we can create a just, sustainable future for everyone. We formed SAL in 2014 and have since published many materials addressing the intersection of climate change and oppression, most can be found on our website: sustainingalllife.org. A SAL delegation attended COP21 to COP25, as well as numerous Climate Summits, to present our tools of mutual support and engaged listening and our perspectives on climate change and oppression. We are active in numerous climate justice projects around the world.

*Re-evaluation Counseling is a process whereby people of all ages and all backgrounds can learn how to exchange effective help with each other in order to free themselves from the effects of past hurts or mistreatment. The theory is a simple, powerful agent of positive change that starts with the individual, but promotes change broadly as well-supported individuals expand our ability to cooperate, lead, and inspire.

At "The Central Role of Young People in the Climate Movement, Leila and Ida led an engaging, connected workshop focused on the experiences and power of young people in the climate crisis. They discussed the systemic ways young people are mistreated and excluded from decision-making, and then showed us how young people can listen deeply to each other and step into powerful leadership within the climate movement.

At the Intersection of Climate Change and Racism in the Southern US workshop, Angelia, Jennifer, and Ama reminded us why the South is central to the fight for climate justice. They spoke about the real challenges facing frontline communities in Charlotte, NC, Houston, TX, and New Orleans, LA—and the powerful ways people are coming together to respond. Through the listening tools of Sustaining All Life and United to End Racism, communities are finding space to heal, organize, and imagine new solutions for justice.
