It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Abubakar Kromah, our Country Representative for Climate Live Liberia and dear friend, who tragically lost his life last night in a car accident while traveling from Sierra Leone to Liberia.

Abubakar has been the lead for Climate Live Liberia since its establishment in 2022, serving with unwavering dedication, integrity, and passion. His leadership played a pivotal role in building and strengthening the Climate Live movement in Liberia, and his commitment to youth-led climate action will remain an enduring part of our collective legacy.

We extend our deepest condolences to Abubakar’s family, loved ones, colleagues, and the entire Climate Live Liberia community during this difficult time. We mourn the loss of a remarkable leader, colleague, and friend, and we honor his life and contributions with profound gratitude and respect.

May his soul rest in peace ❤️

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un

Join War on Want and our global partners on the frontlines of climate justice. As movements gather at COP30 in Belém, we’ll also hear from members of the Peoples’ Summit and its Just Transition Axis — bringing frontline voices into the heart of the UN talks.

We’ll share stories from communities resisting corporate power and workers reclaiming energy systems, and outline our call for the UK to back the Belém Action Mechanism. Together, we’ll prepare to take our campaign and thousands of petition signatures directly to the UK delegation for real climate justice.
