🇺🇸 Back on Capitol Hill for America’s Zoos! 🐾

This week we were back on the Hill advocating alongside the for the Protecting Local Zoos Act — a critical piece of legislation that supports responsible, licensed zoos and the conservation, education, and community programs they provide every day.

We met with legislators, shared real stories from the zoological community, and continued building support to ensure local zoos can keep doing the incredible work they do for wildlife and people alike.

Advocacy matters. Conservation needs a voice. And we’re proud to stand up for our community.

Today, FCF Board Members spent the day on Capitol Hill meeting directly with legislators to advocate for The Protecting Local Zoos Act of 2026 (H.R. 7159) 🏛️🦁

We shared facts.
We shared data.
We shared the real-world impact this legislation has on licensed zoos, conservation breeding programs, and the future of wildlife care in America.

This bill is about protecting responsible facilities, supporting conservation professionals, and ensuring that science — not sensationalism — guides wildlife policy. 🌎📊

We are proud to stand up for our members, our animals, and the communities we serve. Advocacy matters. Showing up matters. And today, we did both. 💪🐅

🎉 THANK YOU for making our 4th Annual Felid Fest an unforgettable success! 🐾

Because of YOU, we raised an incredible $47,000 to support wild felid conservation and advocacy efforts through the Feline Conservation Foundation!

💌 Over 100 letters of support were signed for the Protecting Local Zoos Act of 2026 — and they’ll be heading to Representatives this week to help protect responsible, accredited zoological facilities across the country.

👑 We proudly crowned our new Conservation King and Queen, celebrating those who go above and beyond for wildlife.

🏆 And the Zookeeper Olympics? Let’s just say… the competition was fierce, the laughs were loud, and it will absolutely go down in the history books!

🌍🐾 Happy World Geoffroy’s Cat Day! 🐾🌍

Today we celebrate Geoffroy’s cat (Leopardus geoffroyi), a small but fierce wild feline native to South America. Found across Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, and Bolivia, these spotted cats are incredibly adaptable—thriving in grasslands, forests, wetlands, and even agricultural landscapes.

✨ Fast facts:
• Excellent climbers and swimmers
• Mostly nocturnal and extremely elusive
• Important predators that help balance ecosystems
• Globally listed as Least Concern, but still threatened by habitat loss, fragmentation, and human conflict
