We are young Indigenous wildfire firefighters from the Chiquitanía region of Bolivia.
From 2019 to 2024, we have fought tirelessly against massive wildfires that destroyed millions of hectares of forest, affecting communities, wildlife, and our ancestral lands. The years 2019 and 2024 were the worst environmental disasters in our country’s history and we were there, fighting with our hands, our courage, and almost no equipment.
We are not government employees.
We are volunteers.
Young Indigenous men and women risking our lives to protect our land, our people, and our home.
And there is a harsh truth we need to share:
We have never had a proper emergency response vehicle.
All these years, we reached the fires however we could:
On motorcycles, risking our lives and unable to carry the necessary equipment.
In rented vehicles, which we often paid for ourselves, even though as volunteers we have no financial resources for that.
And many times… on foot, carrying pumps, backpacks, and tools through smoke and flames.
Every minute lost can mean the destruction of a community, a forest, or even a life.
And still, we keep going — because we love our land and because we know that if we don’t go, no one else will.
Today, after so many years fighting almost alone, we are asking for your help.
We urgently need to acquire our first equipped 4x4 emergency vehicle, so we can reach wildfire areas quickly, safely, and with the proper tools.
A vehicle means:
✅ Faster response to fires
✅ Preventing the loss of more forests and wildlife
✅ Protecting Indigenous communities
✅ Keeping our own volunteers safe
Your donation — no matter how small — can literally save lives and entire forests.
