I didn't really like the first film, so my reaction to this one is...pretty much the same.
Pros: it's a little more exciting. There are some decent fight scenes (especially the London sequence) and it's really neat seeing the Fantasticar in live-action. I especially love how it separates into little mini-cars. The Silver Surfer was pretty damn awesome. Doug Jones was a perfect physical casting choice, but Lawrence Fishburne was a little distracting as the voice. And any scene when the Surfer fights is pretty cool. I would genuinely like to have seen a Silver Surfer movie. And it was nice to see Andre Braugher in a movie (I miss him). The film also isn't quite as much of a product of the time as it's predecessor. Finally, the "I'M ON FIRE!" "YOU'RE ON FIRE!" "YOU THINK?!" scene is really funny. For the flak I gave Alba in the last one, the line is perfectly delivered.
Cons: Doom. I've already covered it in the last post how miscast Julian McMahon was. Moving on, the priorities are AWFUL. The world is in danger and you're focused on getting married?! Christ, you're goddamn superheroes! DO YOUR JOB. And the most damning fault is Galactus. The film builds up Galactus pretty well, but the payoff is INCREDIBLY disappointing.
A 4/10 film.
On to the BELOVED 2015 reboot.
