Earlier this month, Big BWN Project had the honor of facilitating Brunei Darussalam’s first-ever National Policy Convening under the AI Ready ASEAN initiative, marking the successful conclusion of Phase 1! ✨

The event was graced by Guest of Honour Dr. Eddy Fadzlin bin Haji Amdan, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education, alongside Mr. Ilan Asqolani, Head of Programme at ASEAN Foundation. Bringing together government agencies, multi-stakeholders, youth and beneficiaries, the convening created a space for meaningful dialogue on a safe, ethical, and inclusive AI future for Brunei.

This milestone caps off incredible national momentum with Big BWN Project bringing the initiative straight to local heartlands, exceeding our own milestone goals of the project reaching 8,436 total beneficiaries across 55 schools and institutes, achieving 105% of our original 8,000-person target.

5,000 educators were trained under BDLTA Brunei and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) delivering In-Depth AI Training nationwide, equipping teachers to integrate AI into classrooms and prepare students for a digital future.

Meanwhile, UTB, the other local implementing partner for this project, conducted the Hour of Code campaign across 30 schools and educational institutions, complemented by online sessions and public engagement sessions during TechExpo, reaching approximately 12,000 beneficiaries.

Looking ahead, the key insights and recommendations gathered from this convening will represent Brunei Darussalam on the regional stage at the upcoming AI Ready ASEAN Regional Policy Convening.

The BWN Coffee Convention is back and ready to take over the Sports Hub, Stadium Hassanal Bolkiah from 2 - 4 October 2026.🫶🏽

As always, we’re bringing together coffee lovers, foodies, entrepreneurs, and creatives for an unforgettable three-day celebration of community, culture, and incredible brews. 🤩🤯 The public can enjoy a variety of exciting activities completely free of charge, from live demonstrations to mini workshops. For those looking to elevate their craft, we are also hosting exclusive, hands-on paid masterclasses led by industry pros. Plus, we are designing fun, interactive coffee experiences that the whole family can enjoy together, so get ready for a weekend full of excitement.

What better way to celebrate World Environment Day than by empowering Brunei’s young minds to become the eco-champions of tomorrow?💪🏽 In conjunction with World Environment Day held earlier this month, we officially initiated the Brunei Young Eco Innovators Project with Brunei Fertilizer Industries at IBTE Nakhoda Ragam! 🌱

We were deeply honored to have Ms. Jormasnizar Jormasie, Head of Talent Management (HR) of Brunei Fertilizer Industries, deliver the opening remarks to inspire our participants. Her words truly set the tone for the day, highlighting the vital importance of investing in our youth, cultivating sustainable mindsets early, and opening doors for the next generation to explore impactful STEAM pathways linked to environmental responsibility. ✨

Our eco-innovators then dived straight into an intensive, hands-on two-hour workshop. Together, they explored the real-world impacts of climate change right here in Brunei, took on interactive challenges to master the mechanics of Zero Waste living, and sealed their commitment to our country and planet with a powerful Green Pledge Ceremony to take these sustainable habits back to their homes and classes!

In partnership with the STEP Centre, Brunei and proudly supported by Brunei Fertilizer Industries this outreach programme is headed to 5 schools for Phase 1.🫶🏽

A bit late, but better late than never.🥹 The Last Kopek - just like that the final Sahur Saturday, a beautiful chapter comes to a close.

Our final Sahur Saturday wasn’t just an event - it was a celebration of 10 years of community, togetherness, and shared moments that we’ll carry with us long after Ramadan ends.

From beloved local favourites to meaningful late-night conversations, from quiet moments of reflection with to seeing familiar faces return year after year, every detail was crafted with intention and love.🫶🏽

Watching all of you show up, support local vendors, and embrace our BYOR initiative with .bn & .bn meant the world to us. We may not have had the viral vendors or event? but what we built together over the last 10 years was far more valuable: a community that genuinely shows up for one another. ❤️

To everyone who has been part of this journey since 2016 - thank you. For every visit, every purchase, every share, and every kind word. You are the reason Sahur Saturday was everything it was, especially our local homegrown small businesses!

This isn’t goodbye. It’s the beginning of something new - to more community-driven, more intentional, more impactful events and projects inshaallah. 🌙✨
